But the compression is rather visible.

But it looks like a whale, not a shark. You can tell by the tail fin - horizontal for whales, vertical for sharks.
Nonetheless, I like that picture.

I can't view it whole although I use 1280x1024 resolution. I would make it smaller, use Unsharp Mask and cut the burnt out roof. Also, the photo seems tilting to the right.

is the top of the building in the background jutting out of the roof of the stand. Also, the picture looks rather plain not epic (just my impression).

Very good composition, colours and the feeling.
-
but I would crop the right and the top of the picture to simplify it.

my attention is not focused on anything in this photo. It needs some cropping and sharpening, BTW, the uploaded picture is very big - I use resolution 1280x1024 and I cannot see the whole picture at the same time.

which one photo of the heron series is the best. They are nice as a separate pictures but there is synergie between them when they are put together. Never separate them!

I like the nature best. The title has a double meaning: the catch of the day for the heron as well as for you. BTW, the fish seems a pretty big one, as big as heron's head.

That'a a very original approach to the fireworks theme. It looks like a kind of phosphorescent medusa.

The photo is superb but how did you do it? How many hands do you have?
-
but it can do with some colour improvement (use histogram functions). You befooted Monica and the Goldan Gate should fill more of the photo. This is my humble opinion.

Oops! Sorry, I didn't look at the equipment. IMHO, that picture shows that digital photography has not passed beyond the toddler stage yet. I have seen some landscape digital photos and that mist is their prime feature.

A polarizing filter could have helped here to improve the colours.
