Very beautiful! Great work!

With all that's going on in the world, this kind of expression is such a breath of fresh air.
Thanks!

Very inspiring work! Your whole portfolio is very interesting. Thanks for sharing your visions.

Crop? Maybe there are some unique aspects of the photo you could emphasize by cropping. But, the original photo has great impact and can stand alone as a unique and satisfying image. It is a very complete image in the original - a perfect "decisive moment".
Nicely done Darrin!

The images in your folders are beautiful and masterful. Your technique is brilliant. I was reading the comments and came across this:"I generally respond to light and composition, then subject", which disturbed me greatly. If one is not drawn to the subject initially, then why look at photography? Isn't the medium based on capturing an interesting subject and "immortalizing" the moment? I don't know, it just struck me funny.
Anyway, your work is fascinating - keep it up!

This is very nice. What is going on though in the upper right corner? I would have edited that out. Also, there is a purple streak to the left of that which is distracting. Otherwise, nicely composed.

I think the square crop above does not provide the moody & misty feeling of the street. In fact, it creates a more claustrophobic feeling (no offense). The original allows the lights to dissipate and soften as you follow the couple walking. The square crop over illuminates the couple and is, I believe, distracting. Nice image!

As I commented on the B&W version , I think the color version is easier on the eyes. The b&w version is very sharp and hard. The color is more homogeneous. In either case it's a beautiful landscape and a well done image. Nice work! Having been an old LandCruiser driver, I understand your commentary - I think I would have preferred to hike there though. :)

I really like this a lot. I saw the color version and it took me a while to decide which one I like better. Being a total black & white fan, I am glad to see it that way, but I think the color version is easier on the eyes. The b&w version is very sharp and hard. The color is more homogeneous. In either case it's a beautiful landscape and a very nicely crafted composition.

I agree with the comments about this image being the best on this site. There are many other fantastic images but this one has the look of "classic". If you inserted it in the portfolio of any of the great masters, it would look like it belonged there. Nothing against all of the great digital images on this site, but to me, this is the photography that inspires us all to make pictures. Thanks for submitting your work on this site.

Once again you have created a super image. I am a big fan of your work. I love black & white and you have certainly got an eye for the magic of B&W images. Nice job on this one, keep up the great work.

I don't think the negative assessment above is fair. It may be a posed picture, but so what - isn't that part of the trade of photography. Are the critics saying that Vogue photographers never produce anything artistic? Or any of the other magazine shooters? Take a look at Annie L's photos. Compared to say, Bresson,Kertesz, etc. hers are cold too - but still very well done.

Great texture! Beautiful scene! Superb composition! A winning image!

My comment is on your portfolio as a whole. Your work is so magical and wonderful. I would hope that you have had or will have gallery showings somewhere so that you can be appreciated for bringing such beautiful scenery and other images to public viewing. I would only make these comments if I feel I have learned something by looking at your images. Thanks!!! Keep it up!!!

Excellent!!! This is the kind of photo that I think most wedding photographers would like to do but have difficulty finding the time for.
I prefer the artistic and the photojournalistic wedding pictures, but making time and coordinating for these type of settings is so hard. You really must have many satisfied clients! Bravo.

What I like is that it's very moody. You can sense the atmosphere from the photo. That's an important factor in communicating your vision.

Great shot! I'm not a digital user, but this one really shows how nice digital can be.

Nice work! A very meaningful image. That's what photography is all about!

Nice idea, but too much shadow on the face. I have made the same mistake and now I make sure that if I'm using available light on a sunny day, I use fill flash to light up my main subject.
If you don't want to use flash, a reflector may be the answer, but in any case - light faces up!
At that angle, ratio lighting probably would be too difficult to achieve, so I'd light the whole face. My $.02

Getting a good exposure on a white or black dog is not easy. Nice job on this one! Beautiful dog.

Your sister looks like she's a teen with typical complexion problems (my daughter had the same) - I would recommend that close portraits of her be done with a soft focus filter in black&white or use a Tiffen Warm/soft FX 3 filter for color. More flattering and she will appreciate it. You know how sensitive that issue can be for a teenager!

So many articles about Velvia caution against using it for portraits. With images like this, I wonder why? This is so nice.
