I like it too. But why do you have more cameras, than pictures? Post more.
-
Seems we have similar tastes in subject matter. Very nice work. Bravo.
-
I see you cropped out the little triangle. It makes a much better composition. You have a perfect picture now.
-
Unusual and artistic.
-
Good shot. The little triangle in the lower left is a bit distracting, but overall it's a great picture.

Your nature work is beautiful. You really have an eye for color and composition. Everyhing in this folder is well done.
-
You have to tell us what it is. My guess, a top view of a light fixture?
-
I agree, the light here is wonderful. I see you can handle a film camera as well as a digi cam. Bravo!
-
Isn't Switzerland beautiful... you captured it well. I like the infrared stuff. Very different from the "typical" travel photos.
-
The backlit umbrella makes a stunning picture. Composition and light are wonderful. But, why does it look like a soft filter was used, that film and lens should have given you a sharper image. Is it the scan?
-
This is interesting, due to your low POV and choice of focus.
-
Great color. A beautiful photo. Nicely done.
-
It's a tad over-exposed. Try the same scene just after the sun sets and a shorter exposure. And move that pole in the foreground.
-
It's a great photo. Good color. Canon has a nice line of PC (Perspective Control) and tilt lenses. If this is a style of photography you wish to pursue, you might want to invest in one of these. They let you correct keystoning. Real nice photo regardless.

I guess the digital tricks added to this scene, but I can only imagine it looks near perfect without them. An excellent work. I will be looking into your printing techniques. To me this photo is a perfect 10 + 10.

I agree with Theo on the border -- leave it out of a critique. As for the boy in the window... exposure with backlight becomes a creative choice. Do you want a silhouette or a subject? It seems you were going for subject here so I think one more stop would help. This would have put him at a brighter window and added some more room detail, that I believe, would add to the theme of the photograph -- a kid in the real world dreaming of the magical world outdoors. As for composition... you may not of had a choice, but having the top of the window frame inside your picture frame would also of helped. Still a nice picture -- now get rid of that huge border!

It's a cute picture. The backlight on the hair looks good. Including the hand in the frame is also good -- but you don't want it to cover the face too much, maybe turn her or move left a bit. I think it would be nice to see more of her eyes. Not really bad at all, I'm sure the mother and father love it.

Hi Geoff,
When I was a kid living in Colorado Springs my friends and I would scramble all over these rocks. It was quite an adventure for being so close to where I lived. No one ever got hurt, but they have rules against doing that now without ropes and skills. Most people can go up, but freak out when they look back down.
I have many photographs of the rock garden but only a few scanned. My mom took one with a Yashica T2 I gave her, that covers a larger view...

This whole folder reminds me of Eliot Porter -- a friend and colleague of Ansel Adams. I was fortunate to study with a guy who knew them both in Colorado. He taught color and would of loved this as well.

I don't think I can match the cleverness of the previous comment. But, this is a great piece. My only complaint is it's on digital. It would make a wonderful Ilfochrome if it were on film -- gallery quality.

This is perfection. I am envious.

Hi Geoff,
Thank you for your positive feedback on my image of Pikes Peak. It is similar to this in a sense that the the sky plays a major role in the image, and makes the subject almost a silhouette. In your image the boats (or building I think now) is more of an abstract element. Having them play a larger role here might make it an even stronger piece. It is an effective photo and if you live nearby, a further study may yield even greater results.
Check out the Dada photographers from the 20's and 30's, (Man Ray for example) who used abstracts in their work. I think you have a good direction going here.
Oh.. and exposure is a creative tool, not a right or wrong. This picture is correctly exposed for what you were going for.

This is another beautiful shot. I'm suprised you give yourself amateur status. All that is required is a sense of light and compositon, and you have both.

Can't really see them to critque one way or the other. Can you upload an 600x800 (or so) pixel jpeg?

I like your new work upside down or otherwise. Glad to see you are learning from the masters.
P.S. I hope you don't mind, that I used a comment from an email you sent me on my web site -- http://www.mlkstudios.com. I'll remove it if you have any objections.
All the best,
