I am not a naturalist, so I'd be grateful if anyone would identify this beetle.

This tough lady asked me to take her picture.
Like many others in her community (a nomadic group that I came across in Ahmedabad), she appears to exude a combination of stoicism and pride.
Thanks for looking.

This picture was not set up by an adult. The kids' actions were
entirely spontaneous, somewhat frustrating -- and ultimately, funny.

This picture was taken in the New Orleans French Quarter during Mardi
Gras 1998 -- long before the horrors of Hurricane Katrina.
The man was probably fishing for a match in his shirt pocket.

Very nice image.
It leaves itself open to a lot of different interpretations -- that makes it very intriguing.

Chris:
Interesting image, although for some reason, it shows up a little too dark on my monitor. I presume you are trying to show the dystopian nature of this shunting yard, in which case the treatment is appropriate.
However, a little more detail, and a little less shadow would make this image more compelling.

The only manipulated parts of this picture are the background and the color. The rest of the image is intact. It depicts a group of tourists at a fort, but the overall effect is somewhat surreal and almost other-worldly.
I decided not to do anything about the person sticking out her arms on the right hand side.
