Thanks for the answers, Bob and Brian, also.

Ivar,
Thanks for the answer. You're right, I've checked the status of that members and yes, they are all patrons. I failed to understand the meaning of the word "alert" as being similar to "request", when visited the page with the list of the benefits of being a patron. I thought it was a reference to indication of new comments on the photos with a previous critique request. Sorry then for the previous post.

There is a limit of one photo request for critique every 24 hours,
isn't it?
Seems to me that many members of photo.net have some privilege about
this, and are able to ask request for two, three... images in the
same day. Usually they get much more ratings also than the normal
number (10-11) that the request brings for most of us. Anybody has
noted this, of it's a kind of imagination of mine?
Maybe is an extra feature for some of the members of the site, but I
haven't been able to find an explanation (i.e. being a patron)

I agree with you, Alethea, about the mate rating game. The problem is that is very difficult to fight against it because if you rate honestly the mediocre photos, you actually are pushing the shots further to the top pages, because the added number of rates.
What about a change to the criteria used by default to show the main page of top photos? Using the average of originality and aesthetics for the more of ten times rated photos, youve at least a chance for a not so biased order at the pages.

I want to buy a fitted case for my EOS 5. The largest lens I have is
the EF 100/2. Will I really need the EH7-LL for "medium lenses" or
is enough the EH7-L for "standard lenses"? I ask because the
standard lens with the EOS 5 was the 28-105 zoom, which is roughly
of the same size than the 100/2. Thanks for the answers.

A relative of mine has a Zeiss Ikon Contessa Matic, with a Tessar
50/2.8 lens. The camera looks nice externally but the shutter
(Prontor SLK Spezial) and the focus ring are jammed. Whe have tried
some shops here in Madrid and in none had the spare parts supposedly
required to repair the camera (in wasn't dissasembled). Does anyone
know a good mechanic to send the camera and have it working again?
(Best for us in Europe)
Thanks for the help.

Steve,
If you have a terrace with a far background (like a dark garden), it's easy to achieve this effect with bounce flash at night. Here I have an example of this kind of photo.
http://www.photo.net/photo/1001494
It was done with a EOS 5, program mode and bounced to the ceiling EZ 540. Using a long lens is going to make things easier.

I think that, if you don't have any reason for a faster or wider lens, the obvious choice is the 28/2.8. It's cheaper, smaller and lighter than the other options, and takes filters of the same size than the 50/1.8 (52)
I have it, and the results are very good, no complaints.
B&W Development and Contact Sheet in Madrid, Spain
in Leica and Rangefinders
Posted
Patrick,
I live in Madrid. My recommendation for BW work is SM Laboratorio, Avenida Ciudad de Barcelona, 130 (near Atocha Train Station).
The pricing is 4.35 euros for dev, and 7.50 euros for the contact sheet.
But, probably Diego knows another places with good quality work in the city.
