  1. I have used snapfish on many occasions. Especially for large orders that I can prepay and save money. I

uploaded 700+ images tonight and pre-paid for 4x6 prints. They tried to charge me $37.74 for shipping

    cost.

This is crazy ... and it's something new that snapfish is doing to get over on their customers.

I am back to Mpix for my large orders. 29 cents is a bit much for a 4x6, but the quality is great and at

least they are honest with their shippiong cost.

  2. I have searched for an answer to this question, but have come up

short. I am color calibrating my Mac powerbook G4 with Monaco EZ

Color. I On the powerbook Color LCD display below brightness there is

the option of automatically adjusting brightness as ambient light

    changes. My question is this:

If I calibrate my display, does this option change the monitor

    profile I have created?

  3. Yes. It can download a CF card while connected to the computer via USB. Make sure to visit

Epson.com and download the new driver if you plan on using it for high res files. I recently

brought it with me on a shoot and could not show work to customers because the

message "files to large!" appeared. I contacted Epson and downloaded the new updated

and now it works great viewing RAW and Jpg's out of my Nikon D2X.

  4. By the way ...

Has anyone seen the D2X advertisment for $3999.00 floating around the top of the

Photo.Net site? To say I would be wary to purchase a D2X from anyone selling one already

at $3999.00 is an understatement. Like many others, I am on the $4999.00 waiting list

and not sure how long it will take to move down that list. $3999.00 today sounds to good

    to be true.

    The link is http://www.cbr-yritys.com/

I have never heard of them, but would be interested to hear from anyone who has dealt

with them, or anyone who has already ordered a D2X from them.

  5. I think the prime lenses are going to be the best bang for your buck as well as give you the

sharpest photographs. Zooms are nice, when they are not MONSTER zooms. IMO, a 28-

200 zoom lens is not a good choice due to the loss of image quality. I own the Tamron

28-105 2.8 and love the lens. It is very bulky though. I use it primarily for weddings when

I can't get close enough. Very sharp lens for the money IMO.

I think the best all around zoom is still the foot zoom. Prime lenses also make you work

for the shot and make you a better photographer.

  6. I recently purchased a Nikon Super Coolscan 9000 ED. My initial 6x7 scans (scanned at

default factory settings) looked wonderful. However, when I attempted to scan some

35mm wedding negs they looked horrible, very, very grainy. They looked like a very bad

flatbed scan. Prints from the neg look great so I know it's the scanner not the shot. I spent

the day searching online and trying different settings but could not

get the 35mm scans to look good. I find the manual to be very limited.

Has anyone else had this problem scanning 35mm negs with the Cool scan 9000 ED and

    found a solution?

I purchased the FH-869GR with glass holder for my 6x7 negs and noticed when I placed

my negs in the scanner it reads as 6x9 negs. Should they be reading as 6x7 or is 6x9 by

    the default for this holder?

I was also hoping to find some online resources on the 9000 but find they are very limited.

I did find a Coolscan 9000 Yahoo Group but limited members and even 0 responses.
