1. Throwing together a setup(camera, lens, film) you are not familiar with is most likely going to end in disappointment. You dont mention if you have shot 8x10 before but it is not trivial making the switch.

Why dont you run some test shots with what you have??

  2. Ling, why would you compare the value of a used monorail with a new field camera? They are totally different.

2,000$ is consistent with the prices for an 8x10 field camera from the other manufacturers, and from the titanium hardware I am guessing that they are trying for a more upscale audience.

  3. In my experience unless someone is selling a camera that has very recently replaced bellows it is best to make the assumption that you will need to replace them in the not-too-distant future. If you factor that cost into the BJ it's not such a great deal after all. (compared to your 'free' korona)
  4. Jay, this POP paper contains a large amount of silver nitrate.
I am sure that we can all agree though that POP has its own distinct flavor and I would encourage anyone who likes to experiment to give it a try. The nice thing is that once you have made negatives that are appropriate in contrast range for any one the contact printing processes (especially with pyrogallol or pyrocatechol developers) they can be used for all. I believe if anything that this synergy will help the contact printing processes grow in both popularity and ranges of self expression.
