i really like this shot too...i don't care where the light came from, i care what the shot looks like with the light, and it adds a cool mood to this picture...well done...

i guess i come from the 'knucklehead' school of photo critique...i seem to never want to "change this" or "change that"...i let the shot speak for itself and i either like it, don't like it, or worst of all, am indifferent to it...i like this shot...i don't imagine it any other way...just looked at it and liked it...now when i go out and try to "copy" the technique, composition, or whatever... i might try this or that...but i like this one just the way it is...as i do most of the stuff you have here

i like it...it is really hard these days to present an outstanding pic of a flower, at least in my opinion...seems like every photographer worth his/her salt has a great flower shot to show...well this is a great flower shot...crop this crop that whatever...i like it...and would be interested to know what you thought of the shots i have in my own "flowers" portfolio..

thanx for the nice words wilson...the superman shot is the only one that had the blur added digitally....the skateboarder and the two football shots were just slower shutter speed and pan...funny thing is that after i got such positive comments about the skateboarder shot, a shot i took that way purposely, i started visualizing a football shot with the same effect and tested during a local community college game this past sat...i'm not real happy with the results but wanted to see what others thought... i'm also gonna see what happens when i apply the techniques with fill flash...using both 1st AND 2nd shutter synchro...will post results for critique of course...this site is one of the greatest things to happen to photography...whenever we talk about the marriage of photography and the computer...this site and others like it should be way up on the list of success stories...

thanx...this was natural sunlight (about 2 in the afternoon) my brand new (this was it's second shot) Canon D30 with a Tamron 90mm 2.8 Macro..

now that's clever, and flawlessly executed...congratulations...

appreciate the nice words...james, i had very little control over the shot...i was in canada, came upon the dude fishin, whipped out the tele, and shot a couple frames...if i ever get the time to "punch-up" the shot, i'll work on exactly what you noted...course, since the shot is about 24 years old...and i haven't done it yet...it may be awhile...joel...i'm gonna have a large print done of it one day...i always thought it was interesting..and it's always been one of my favorite shots...but never was real motivated to "work on it"...

truth is, i've thought that same thing when looking at the shot...problem is monkey was behind a glass partition, and is a distance from the glass (telephoto shot)...i've even thought about adding a catch light digitally...may try it one day...the key for me is that the monkey is from vietnam...and has the same fine features of so many people from that part of east asia...
