The link to the site is fine.
Digital GEM has been around for a while & is built into a number of scanner's software already. This option is simply a PS plug-in for those who do not already own it.
My experience is that it's okay, but not spectacular by any means...

There's certainly no meaningful boycott. Some idiots (occasional restaurants mostly) are boycotting french cheeses & wine. I've heard & read nothing about boycotts of german goods whatsoever. Any reports about large scale boycotts are press hysterics at best.
Let's get real. Prices rises are due to the dollar's fall.

Actually, Mark, many of us are holding our breath to see what Leica does in the face of the Nikon/Canon digital onslaught. In truth, few are interested in an R-body digital. It's the M lens that have to work w/ a new digital body. That's what will fire everyone's excitement. But technically, seems terribly, if not impossibly, difficult. Thanks for the rumors, as unfounded as most of them turn out to be...

Clearly, a quoatation from a photographer who was not a painter. A painter might easily have reversed the comment...
-
Great photographers are not necessarily pleasant people. Funny how all the mysterious "hero" posters defend each other.
Rob was nasty. The comment was uncalled for. There's simply no defense.
-
Ellis, you're awfully defensive. Hmmm.
Rob on the other hand has obviously fallen off the couch, the keyboard bouncing on the floor. He's sleeping it off at the moment, poor fellow. Dreadful what those pints will do to a good man......................
-
Rob Appleby: Shame on you. I trust you were 4 or 5 beers into it, or perhaps a case or so, when you penned that nasty comment.
Who awards these stupid "hero" icons anyway?
Michael shows intelligence. Anything further I say about you slips into insult. Just be more tactful next time you wander from your cave.

iMac for everything graphic w/ PS 7 & OS X. By far the best color management.

Jim, I've posted similar queries in the past. Also, looked for swaps offering various enticements--for instance, a 21mm mint SA for an "O." The silence is astounding.
Me thinks these cameras have largely gone onto collector's shelves. You might want to search the archives here. Someone has posted "O" images on occasion.

I have an extra Gossen Luna Pro if you're interested. Email me off line. It's complete with leather case & in great working order. I'd describe it as Exc+. A great meter...

Giles, yours' is the first voice of reason on this forum regarding the new M. Thanks for taking the time to speak softly, persuasively & carefully.

Not unusual. Many of the early lens are missing #'s. Not special, & nothing to worry about...

when shooting my leica in public i tend to wear black, because shooting an innocent camera might be viewed as a political act. these are dangerous times, & i want to look the part.
i admit to having executed 3 or 4 such bodies, but i always try to make sure they've had a useful life. it's easiest for me when the vulcanite is obviously worn & tired. my favored weapon is a Walther because someone told me once that Walthers were made down the street from leicas.
usually when i am forced to shoot leicas like this people look the other way. it broke my heart the first time i did this because a man cowering across the street cried out, "why are you shooting that canon?"

Minolta Dimage Scan Elite II, and
(sorry!) Linotype-Hell Ultra 2 flatbed...

Just got into this late. Have been out of town, but I play a lot of chess, shoot on the street at times, & tend to like 10-15 minute games. Sorry--I know that busts your correlation, but I'm not sure there is one!

I fall into the Apple category. I run both Pentium IV (w/ MS XT) & Apple OS X machines here, but do all my digital photo work on Apple. Color management is not as clean or true on Windows machines, & that is why 95% of graphics folks use Apples exclusively. Also talk around this issue with working photo pros--you'll find that a significant majority use Apples. Also, Adobe does all its software releases on Apple first, then ports into Windows later.

James,
None of the "defects" you have seen or describe would effect the photo image whatsoever. Not a whit. Relax & take some pictures, for god's sakes.
-
I'd rate them a notch higher. Either could grace the pages of Fortune. You're seeking a commercial look, & I'd say you've found it.
-
Yes. I'd say, follow yr instincts. Too much light.
Nice work posted on the forum recently, btw...
Worcester never looked so good. They should make you mayor!

If you run a search, you'll find a previous thread on Gedney on this forum (from memory, back about 9-12 mths ago...)

Richard,
