I agree with a lot of what Elaine says. I find the boat and nets distracting. What I feel is most interesting is the lower 1/2 of the picture, with only the pavement and reflection, but then I have a tendency to like reflections.

One thing I notice is that the water flows nicely, and then off of the edge. White areas tend to pull the viewer in that direction, and when following the flow of the water, out of the photo. If all of the white water at the base of the falls, where it turns were included, I feel it would hold the viewer's eye better.

I looked too, and I like it. Would like to see it without her arms cut off, curious as to what she's doing. Maybe a vertical shot. Nice tones.

Looks great. The whole thing comes together, the right focus and dof, with muted background and the composition, lighting. Excellant!!!

I like the colors and water and the whole idea, but it seems a little flat. I'm not sure if it's the lighting or the angle of view. I know that the leaf forms a depression to hold the water, but that doesn't show in the photo. Possibly some side or back lighting and/or change the angle and have a narrower depth of field to give it more dimension. I'm trying to improve my photo skills by critiqueing other's work, and I'm not really sure what I'm doing and would like comments about my photos. Thanks, Dave

I like the shadow and abstractness. You ask about the lighting - I feel it is too bright on the sculpture itself, the grain of the wood would give an added dimension. Also if it were cropped more with the sculpture more to the right, and the top and bottom brought in, it would get rid of clutter and leave the beautiful curves and shadow. Please feel free to critique my photos, thanks. Dave

While visiting Black Mesa on the Navajo Indian Reservation we were
able to witness the simple life cherished by these people. I hoped
to capture some of that experience. What do you think?

Nice photo, I like the b&w, good tonal range, composition, and focus. I'm not quite sure why I doesn't jump out at me, because everything seems to be there. Maybe it's all the dog pictures I've seen and taken, (my daughter's a dog nut) and need something unique. Anyway I'm trying to improve my photography by critiqueing other's work and am not sure of what I'm doing, so pardon me if I offend. Please feel free to critique my work, I need the help. Thanks, Dave

I'm trying to improve my photography by recognizing what I do and don't like about other's photos and I'd appreciate comments on mine. I'm generally not one to follow rules of photography, but the rule of thirds seems to come into play here with the horizon right in the middle seems unbalanced. I'm not sure of the time of day but the shadows appear midday and makes the photo appear flat. I like the use of the framing with the tree breaking up the sky, but I think if there were some clouds it would help. I'm finding it difficult to criticize other's work, and don't want to offend, sorry if I do. Dave

I'm not sure what it is, the contrast or the pose, but she looks stiff and mannequin like. Then again I may need my eyes checked.

Having a picture of our white dog, Angel's, face and the eyes just
seemed to stand out most of all. Realizing that less is sometimes
more, I dodged out the rest of her face. My mind almost fills in the
rest of the face, is it just me because I know the dog, or do you see
it too. Any comments would be apprecitated.

I'm just starting to try to critique others work. I usually just look and say I like it or not. I like yours except maybe a little too much sky, I feel like I'm falling backwards and if there were more of the grass, the trail could work more at drawing the eye into the photo.
In a Dream.
