  1. I had a similar problem. The flash would only rise a little and I would have to gently pull it up then most times the camera would shut down. I fixed it myself but it was fiddly and would not really recommend it as there are too many things to go wrong. The problem turned out to be a tiny tension spring on the side of the flash assembly ( under the cover ). It would slip off the little cheap plastic pin holding it. After putting it back in place it worked fine until it slipped off again so I put a tiny spot of epoxy on the end of the pin to hold it. It has worked ok since. Funny thing was that I also found a little broken piece of the lens in the assembly although mine was intact. It must have been broken and replaced by the previous owner.
  2. I have just returned from a 90 minute walk with my camera and tripod

around Fortitude Valley ( a former red light district and

entertainment area in Brisbane, Aust ). Being a fairly quiet natured

person it is sometimes difficult for me to approach people with my

camera. Well, during this short time I was chatted up by a gay guy,

glared at by a transvestite, met the owner of the newest and

trendiest bar in town, had security guys stand in front of my camera

so I couldn't shoot their patrons coming and going, shot a few street

performers and promised them prints and had countless young lovelies

come up to me asking to have their photo's taken and was I from the

newspaper! What an introduction to street photography! I will soon

loose my shyness in approaching people at this rate and have a

    feeling I may become hooked.
