1. Whoa.. depending on how often the equipment was used (if at all) will help determine current market value. The M4, if it's in good condition, should fetch a fair price (I think $1,000 USD + ) because the M4 is probably one of, if not the, most valued M camera around. At least that's what I keep being told :) (I only have an M3 and an M2).

The two Summiluxes (Summili ?? :) ) should also fetch a fair price if they are still clear, unscratched and no dings/rub marks etc. It looks, based on Leica M lens serial numbers: ( http://www.forloren.dk/lbf/leica_lens_serial.htm ) that the first Summilux was produced in 1966 and the second in 1970 but that's just a guess.

You could always check with a local camera store but 9/10 you won't get full value because they need to make a profit on the sale of the items (because you know they're going to turn right around and sell them). You could go the route of Ebay or you could just sell them right here - where any number of folks would probably jump at the chance as long as the items were kept well and don't need a CLA :)

  2. I live in Canada and I always ship (unless the buyer is not willing to pay at least half the cost) via ExpressPost, which is Canada Post's expedited service.

It gets from here in Toronto out to Vancouver in about 3 days. It gets to most major U.S. centers in about 4 days and rural America in about 5-6 days.

  3. Hey Peter :)

I was told that collapsing the old chrome elmar into the M6 was a big "no no", so I don't collapse it when it's on the M6. On the M3, sure, no problem but I don't want to "try it out" on the M6 only to find out I'm wrong :D

I'll do a search online to see if I can find a definitive answer as I wa s told this information by the gentleman that sold me the lens.

    Cheers
4. Beautiful shot Andy :)

Rene, it is a chrome lens and was made for the M3 (the Leicaphiles here can correct me if I'm wrong - nay.. they WILL correct me if I'm wrong ;) ).
You can't use it with the M6 or any metered body (I guess that means the M5 too) since collapsing the lens would damage the meter mechanism if I am to understand what I've been told :)

  5. Hmmm... I'm not sure exactly but I have a IIIc and what I've used it for is for shutter speeds that are slower than 1/30. The previous answer is probably correct but seeing as how I don't use flash bulbs (nor do I have the attachment for said bulbs) I simply set slower speeds with that dial.

Seems to work pretty well imho. The following image was shot at 1/4 handheld using my IIIc.

    Hope that helps a bit.
