1.
Hi Les,
I'm waiting until I have 3 or 4 rolls of film to process before I send them out. This brings me to another question.
I'm saddened by the fact that getting film processed locally is getting harder all the time. The little guys are being pushed out of business by the digital revolution. And getting 120 film processed is even harder.
I have used A&I in the past and they did a great job. But I live in Connecticut, they are in California. Any input regarding who to trust with my film would be appreciated. I'm not a great photographer and I make no money with this so my budget is a big consideration to me.
Oh, and before I forget, I just had this camera repaired and CLA'd by Krimar Photo and Krikor did an OUTSTANDING job with it. The price was reasonable and he is a very nice man to deal with. I will recommend him to anyone who has a Rollei needing repair. Rolleis are the only thing he works on and he does them well.
Thanks again,
2.
Hi,
I'm wondering what I will need to develop C6 (color slides) at home. Or, can someone guide me to a good book that a non-professional can easily understand?
I used to do this way back in the '70s but I can't for the life of me remember the whole process. I've been bitten by the film bug the last 3 years or so but I really don't want to pay for the Professional Labs to do what I can do at home. It's the main reason I went Digital in the first place.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
3.
Hi,
Thanks for all responses. Steve, you are right about eBay and people who do not know that many old cameras have to have film in them to work. I've bought a few knowing that this is the case on that particular camera and asking the seller a few detailed questions.
So many people are going through their Grandpas old stuff and think that it's all just junk so they try to get a couple of bucks for it. Their loss: our gain.
Back to my Vitomatic II: I have determined that it is indeed a mechanical problem. Probably a pin shorn off due to someone being too aggressive with the winding lever.
My next question is do any of you know a good person to fix this? I have a Vitomatic IIa with the same Color Skopar lens and I LOVE the results. So does my 9 year old Neice who is interested in learning what film is all about. She's a product of the Digital Age and has a pretty good eye for a kid. I'm trying to show her some history and her mind is a sponge.
I want to give her this camera because she wants to shoot just like Uncle Gus! I'm very flattered.
Thanks again guys for your input.
4.
Hi,
I just inherited a Rollei MX-EVS Type 1 with the original Rolleiflash Unit. Before I go out and spend a ton of money on flash bulbs I'd like to ask if anyone here has used a more modern flash unit with theirs.
I will, of course study up on the Flash Bulb method to go totally "Old School" but if I can get a Thrystor flash to use for now I would be thrilled.
Any suggestions, or should I totally avoid this?
Thanks,
5.
Hi,
I received a Voigtlander Vitomatic II in really great shape. EVERYTHING works but the shutter will not cock after I advance the film. I can keep advancing but there is no stop where the shutter SHOULD engage.
Does anyone know who can repair these terrific old cameras the RIGHT way? I hate to give up on any of my old stuff and some say I'm wasting my money getting these classics repaired but I just can't see tossing out a beautifully engineered camera such as this.
Thanks for any guidance.
6.
Hi,
Happy New Year To All!
I'm new to these forums and from what I've seen so far I know I'm in just the right place.
I LOVE Classic Cameras and own or have owned quite a few now. My newest Gem is a Rolleiflex MX-EVS Type 1. It was a gift from a good friend who's father owned this camera.
Due to the fact that it did not work when I got it, I sent it out to get repaired and CLA'd. This is my question to you folks who know the etiquette of this site. Can I mention a repair persons name here or make and receive comments about their quality of work?
I have not gotten my camera back yet, but if he does a great job I feel that I should share this with everyone. Please advise me.
Thanks!
7. I just got my first 2 rolls back from the T3 and I am quite suprised

with the results. The detail is phenominal and the color rendition is

just beautiful. After the first 1/2 roll I felt like I've been

shooting with it for years. I lose no detail close focusing wide open.

Straight into the sun, no problem.

This is my first high end P&S. I looked at the Minilux but I hated the

veiwfinder. The T3 finder is 100% better. I also get a much higher

    shutter speed than the Minilux.

I use an M6 TTL and bought this to back it up but I'm not so sure the

M6 wont be backing up this camera now.

I want to thank everyone on this thread for their input because it

definitely helped me make my decision to buy the T3. I will keep

reading this thread to pick up any other info or can be of any help to

    anyone. Thanks again!

  8. I have a question about the flash synch speed of the T3. Does anyone

know what it is? I would also like to see some pictures of the flash

bracket and external flash mounted on the T3 so I can see what I would

be getting into before laying out that kind of money.

I haven't recieved my T3 yet but I must admit I am pretty excited to

be able to back up my M6 with such a nice little P&S.
