Very nice. I am curious as to the technique used in PS to achieve this effect. Maybe you could reply back and fill us in. Thanks for an inspiring image.

Thanks to everyone who contributed. I continue to welcome your comments. Ira- the locatiion under the power lines is intentional. The power lines give perspective and lead right to the area where most of the strikes were happening. Power lines, Power storm, get the connection? Though aside from the power lines, it still gives the effect.

The colors in this shot give it a nice "soft" feel, yet the wings are razor sharp. The only complaint I could possibly come up with, is that the bee is still much too close to center, and the fact that it is square with the frame is rather borning composition. If the shot were rotated and cropped just slightly different, composition would be better.

I like the lines of the paper. I can almost feel the texture of the old book by these lines. The thumbnail view looked almost like a sketch.

 

I would have like to see the book open a little more. I lays flat on the left of the frame, but right side seems slightly out of balance. That's just my opinion though.
