Does anyone know what the current price is for 40D in Singapore?

Jennifer Durand, which school trains writers in your part of the world? And poets?

"Artists are recognised after doing, usually a degree, in fine art. Part of their study is the theory, history and practice of art and photography. They produce work that is founded in the established theories, histories and practices of art."
I'm sorry but this is one of the most patently incorrect statements I have read in a long while. And writers are recognised after doing a degree in fine writing?

In Bangkok, give Camera Collection a call, they stock Leica/Zeiss equipment and their card says they do repairs. 02 632 8433-4. They are centrally located in Rama 4 Rd, not far from Silom MRT.
The best repair shops near Hat Yai or Surat are probably in Bangkok!

Take a boat trip around the islands, time permitting go to Phang Nga bay - very pretty. Phuket itself is very tourist-oriented. The most exotic thing there is the sun-burnt cacausian family pretending to be world travellers.
Phuket is packed with families, as well as the ubiquitous sex tourists.
As someone already noted - the middle of rainy season. Which doesn't mean it will rain constantly, but rather intermittently almost every day.

Ed, I live in Thailand and have travelled extensively around the regions you mention. If you have any specific questions you should raise them, otherwise 'wisdom' could run to pages.

Could Philip then provide a definitive answer if Bob Atkins is just stabbing in the dark?
I'll rephrase the question: when will the formal enforcement and verification programs be activated?
Bob Atkins, what is a "future enforcement action"?
-
As the title says.
Question for whoever can authoritatively answer it.

Many thanks Craig, I'll keep an eye on that site.

Thanks Craig, that at least makes me less likely to visit Singapore! I'm in Bangkok and have seen the scanners here but at a premium over the B&H price. Hong Kong may well be the answer.
But still hoping that someone from KL could reply.

Can anyone advise whether it is possible to buy B&W film in Kuala Lumpur, and
where?
Regards,

Hi all,
I will be in Kuala Lumpur over the weekend and was wondering whether anyone
knows a place there to buy a film scanner, say Nikon Coolscan V, and how
competitive the price would be.
Cheers

You must close your eyes and wish really, really hard

I've visited Vietnam three times, on each occasion carrying at least two cameras, a few lenses and a lot of film. No questions were asked, no declaration required.
It's not Iraq, they get a LOT of tourists with cameras.

As Craig above, I've had DELTA 3200 X-rayed as part of carry-on luggage without any side effects.

Ah, no sense of humour, Ellis.

Yes. I feel like that contemplating Thomas Kincaide.

I take it you don't like homersexuals, Timothy Hicks?
So your argument, minus the clever words you read in some book, boils down to this:
1. Porn cannot be fine art.
2. Image X is porn therefore it's not fine art.
Flawless!!!! You should be a judge.
But getting back to another clever thing you said - you mentioned the addictive power of pornography.
To put it bluntly, prove it, don't expect others to agree with assumptions you read in Watchtower. And I agree that some people are addicted to pornogaphy. But that's because it's logical to say that some people are addicted to [anything under the sun]. but because there are insane people out there who read Ecclesiastes over and over night after night, I do not claim that the Bible is dangerous and addictive.
So, Timothy Hicks, kitty porn man, back up your assumptions.

Oooooonward Christian soldiers...
It's been bugging me so I'd like to pick a bone with Timothy Hicks, so to speak.
He said:
"and you have knowledge of extreme perversions from kitty porn to bestiality (and more that I would not even think about let alone write here) all couched under freedom of speech and sorry A. T., it all started with a smile at a pair of boobs."
Am I correct in thinking that Timothy is saying, in the heat of of the moment, that smiling at boobs leads to kitty porn (?) and bestiality?
If you use such watertight logic, Timothy, how can I argue back! Go find me a kitty! A Garfield look alike if you please.
Or perhaps that kind of argument is similar to saying that being a Catholic priest leads to sex abuse? What do you reckon, Timothy?

Does this mean that the existing forum moderators have to re-apply? Or is it for new/amalgamated/future forums?

I photograph 'naked persons'
Your question seems pointless and wallows in semantics.
A 'nude' is a picture if a 'naked person' but done within the constraints of 19th century conventions so that Kenneth Clark can still get a stiffy but feel noble about it.
Thailand/Laos/Vietnam/Cambodia... is camera theft a big issue?

I have lived in the region for some years and travelled extensively around. Thailand is one of the easiest countries in the world for travellers and you should not have any problems there. Do not arrange a tour for Thailand, it is a waste of time, more expensive than doing it by yourself and it's considerably more fun the other way around.
Do not take tuk tuks in Bangkok unless you speak Thai and know your way around. Most of them in tourist areas will charge you double or triple what the taxi costs. But maybe take one once, it's kinda fun.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that Thailand is a regional air travel hub. You could save some time by taking a cheap flight from Bangkok to say Hanoi or Phnom Penh. Or the other way around.
Check out the available routes on
www.airasia.com (flies to Cambodia, Vietnam, Burma)
www.nokair.com (mostly domestic but flies to Hanoi)
www.bangkokair.com (not as cheap as the others but flies to Siem Reap and Luang Prabang)
Booking is easy on the internet and the airlines are reliable (Air Asia does suffer from flight delays, however)
A nice way to get to Laos is by train from Bangkok to the border in Nong Khai (Vientiane is about 15 km away and there are taxis across the bridge). You could stop in pleasant provincial towns along the way, if that's your thing.
Most of Thailand will be relatively dry in November.
