If you don't have "Save for Web" capabilites on your editing software Brian's size suggestion is good

EG, Tim is correct. Keep posting material, and by all means, put it up for critique request. The more you leave thoughtful comments on others' work the more comments will eventually start coming back to you on your own material. It may be frustrating at first, it's a slow process. All in all, I think you'll find PN an enjoyable site

Nice work Anthony. Gratefully the copies have been deleted. Talk about moxie!

Kudos Brian!

Curiously while having morning coffee this AM I watched a photo reach the bottom of the critique list as other users uploaded. Shortly after hitting the bottom of the list and disappearing from sight it popped up again at the top of the critique list. Same comments and ratings. I decided to give it a go, but waited a short period. It works. Simply delete the request, return to the photo in it's full state under one's folder and request a critique. Up it comes. Happens quite often, actually

Carl, this morning I did exactly what we're talking about as a test, successfully. I simply deleted the request and reposted the exact same photo with no alteration an hour or so later

John,
Seems a few things they're not convinced about. Doesn't appear they much listen to their subscribers
-
I may be incorrect, but wasn't there a time where a photo was
submitted for critique request only one time? I see where the same
photos by certain makers keep showing up again and again with really
no changes or alterations to it. These people looking to bolster or
gather ratings by increased exposure? I would like to see one shot.
Once a photo has had it's shot in the critique request forum that's
it.

Brian, I know you have access to material we don't. I have no doubt your information is correct. It's not a question of winning, it's a question that it seems quite a few members don't agree with 0 uploads being able to rate. Question is: why not change it? Many with 0 photos seem to do their little thing and disappear, rather than being serious participants of the site
-
Brian, I am not alone in the feeling of 0 uploads notoriously leave low ratings. On the contrary, a high rating, also prompts me to view that person's portfolio. It's a great way to mark interesting people and return to view that person's latest work.
Many with 0 uploads leave their ridiculously low ratings without explanation, do their dirty work and leave the site. Many don't return. I cannot understand why 0 uploads still merit the ability to rate. I'm not saying they all rate low, but I need to respectfully disagree with you and believe the majority are low in their ratings
-
I think it's a matter of semantics and don't have a problem with the wording as it now applies. I do have an issue with PN allowing those with 0 uploads to rate. They're ratings are synonymously low, and not inline with the critique agenda despite PN saying the opposite
-
Marc,
I like the 3 days per week format. The number ratings, I feel, should stay along with the comments

The change is a step in the right direction. I see a lot of complaints in the replies. Clearly, the system is never going to be perfect; but this is certainly an improvement. How about one overall rating? Possibly doing away with the originality rating completely.

I feel Martin has put it best. Actually, it's the same reason I subscribed a few years back when the site was much smaller. If someone chooses to spend a decent amount of time here and take advantage of PN's services, doesn't it simply feel like the right thing to do?
I used to also belong to another site which was completely free. Joined them when they were small. The other site eventually went to subscription or free, with limitations, much as PN. I left without subscribing. Not for the cost, but the content. It became permeated with garbage. PN is much more a "class act" and always has been.
I'll not get into advertising support and all other discussion of subscribing or not. Is $25 annually really going to drive me broke? Those that run this site, though not perfect, do a very good job of it. I can't imagine the amount of time it takes for them to do what they do. Is subscription simply the right thing to do? Think the answer is obvious
