Thread age aside, I only have experience with my RTS II and it's a tank. Not only in construction, but in its ability to just keep going without complaints. I've had mine for years and although I have and use many other film cameras (Leica, FM3a, Canon 7s, Oly SPn, medium format,P/S, etc.) my RTS has never had a problem. Ever. I was in Mexico City a couple years ago and had a strap malfunction and my RTS II fell on concrete steps and (comically) rolled down a full flight of concrete steps to the bottom of the stair case. (My life flashed, etc.) I was sure it was dead or at least needed to go to the ICU, but aside from a few scratches and dented filter thread threads (didn't have a cap on either) it worked just fine and I walked away with a harrowing story at the local photowalk. Construction aside, I've never had a problem with in the internals either. I've changed out light seals, etc. but no other major servicing or even a CLA (not proud of that one). Pick one up and never look back. Also, be glad you're not another guy shooting an AE-1 or a F3.
