Gitzo, from 1994 to 1999 made a tripod with the legs that had largest tube diameter on the bottom of the legs. This is backwards from any other tripod made ( to my knowledge). They were sold to be used in wet or sandy conditions because the design inherently rejects water or sand from getting into the bottom tripod section.
I am looking to purchase one of the tripods..... They were named the S120, S220, S320 and the S564 (monopod)
