Wonderful action shot, very dynamic and powerful. The backlight adds aesthetically very much.Great effort David, regards from Greece

You have a superb action photo! I assume you were using a long lens. Did the snow reflection give enough fill light for the shadows?

I am going to sneak this into my favorites folder so I can look at it again.

Jerry

Spectacular action shot. I thought all the polar bears were floating adrift on the small pieces of ice that are left after all the icebergs melted? Now I'm really confused!

Excellent and exciting action shot. I wish I had been there! I have never seen a polar bear except at a zoo, this is amazing. What a treasure and into my favorites.

Best regards, Pamela

Thank you for all the wonderful and much appreciated comments on this image which was taken in the Wapusk National Park in Manitoba, Canada. We purposely had the the Tundra Buggy driver position us so we could use the back-lighting to emphasize the snow blowing off the bears if the got up and gave us some action. There was enough fill light coming off the snow to light them a bit from the front. I opened up the shadows a bit in PS. A few test shots were taken and exposure adjustments made according the the histogram prior to any action.

I'm new to Photo.net so hopefully I can post this link to other shots of these beautiful creatures. On my site you can also watch video of the bears. See the "Video" tab. http://www.westlight.net/gallery/bear.htm

Again, many thanks!

David
