OMG!!! I tried to rate this 7's, but it wouldn't let me. Rather than give 6's for this stupendous shot, I'll just come back later and rate it. This is fantastic work! I'm surprised by a couple of things. First, that there would be this type of architecture so far out west. I would expect this in Europe or on the East coast. Do you know the year this church was constructed? And 2nd, the detail and lighting is amazing. I see that it's an HDR. Can you be more specific about how you shot it? Thanks, and really great work, Jim!

This has most certainly been worth the wait........I've been very anxious to see what you would come up with.........and you've done an amazing job. Every little detail that you must have painstakingly worked on was entirely worth every minute. I love the lighting, the depth and richness of the colors............well done.....feel proud of this one for sure............sincerely, Gail ( I will make a point of coming back to give you the 7's it deserves)

Good golly Miss Molly, Jim! How much time did you put into this gem? It's absolutely magnificent and of the quality level that I think 99% of photographers should aspire to. You're in the other 1%.

Unbelievable. An image more than worthy of the Photo of the Week award.

When high art and technical perfection come together - this is the result.

A joy to view and study -- Very well done Jim.

Thank you all for the comments and ratings.

Christal- This is a landmark in the Lilac City. Finished in 1929 it sits at the crest of the south hill overlooking downtown Spokane. For a guy like me that loves the architecture of Europe, it's a treat. This is a 6 exposure HDR. I used a tripod, cable release. Picked up a trick here on PN and used the live view to minimize camera shake. First processed in Photmatix Pro then CS4. Applied a high pass filter cranked to the max and then adjusted the colors. Did some layer adjusts on brightness and contrast for certain areas of the picture and finished with the border and drop shadow.

Calvin-Your comment humbles me. Thank you.

Thanks for this very detailed explanation. That makes me appreciate this all the more. But what impresses me even more is how you're always pushing the envelope, trying to learn more, taking classes, learning from here on PN (and probably doing a lot of other things I'm not even aware of). It's really telling, Jim......your friends can see how your work is improving, and that's exciting! I hope a year from now you'll be able to look at my work and notice the same thing. That's what we all strive for......improvement......true perfection is hard to come by, but if we're constantly moving in that direction, that's a good thing!

Good shot, however I like the bending of light with the wide angle lens. It give it a cool effect. I think I shot a wedding in this church many years ago, like 30. Lighting was a challenge, you obviously mastered that.

Thank you for your comment on my image of Leslie gulch. It is near the painted hills or painted canyon in Oregon, about 15 miles south.
