The background is enchanting. I'd never heard of a yellow-headed blackbird. Do they all have such fierce-looking faces? Charming view.

These birds are very common in ponds and marshes in western Canada and USA, down to Mexico. If you live in the east you won't see them. As far as I know they aren't particularily fierce, this one sure looks like he is though. They are most famous for having the worst song voice ever. Thanks for visiting. Warm regards.

Well you know I have to come by your portfolio as I have my coffee in the morning as it a habbit of mine. and see here you are creating another great image the cat tails in bloom, hawk catcher looking for his next meal and a level of lighting that is perfect for the capture... Hi Linda, excellent image! Love the composition, with the vertical plants matching perfectly with the bird, everything seems to be in motion except for the bird.

Nice use of aperture to highlight your subject, and even at 70mm you'd have to be close to get this good shot. I love the golden colors.
