Wayne Sadler 591 Posted July 22, 2009 To me art is simply allowing my imagination to define relationships and throwing in my aesthetics of design and composition. I found the wall behind this flower amusingly involved. I would appreciate any comments and critique. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 24, 2009 "Obedience Flower" one of my favorites...it 'drys' beautifully....but you have to catch it just before the top petals start to fall off....a hardy periennial that transplants easily because of it's 'tap root'................. I think if you went to 'levels' and just "tweeked" the lightling(up) a tad, on the flower...it would really 'pop'.....for now, it is very soft (that's okay..but is almost 'blending into the background)....but truly I am just a 'beginner'....so I could be 'totally wrong'....aptly titled Wayne......congrats, Gail Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 591 Posted July 25, 2009 Gail, you are dead on with the suggested adjustments. I pretty much ignored tweeking the flower (glad to know what it is now), even gave up consideration of the poor composition to focus on the image I imagined in the wall (tasting or sniffing the flower). The cardinal sin: ignoring composition and design. By the way, you have an excellent portfolio that I must study. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 26, 2009 Thankyou very much for the kind compliment...It's fortunate that we love what we are doing....and in so, keep striving to reach higher livels of skill...I think sometimes when we edit....it may just be a 'busy or bad' day......and we don't always see what is right in front of our 'noses'............and it often takes someone else to add a suggestion....then suddenly....it seems so clear 'what we weren't seeing). Sometimes all the 'ingredients' are right at our fingertips....we just fail to 'see' at the time. I'll check in on you from time to time....your do lovely work.....and have a wonderful 'gift' of interpretation. sincerely, Gail Link to comment
