Thanks to all ! Let's see..."heavy, profound, mystic, mysterious, moody, almost alien".... Do you think this says something as to the state of my mind? Perhaps I need professional help? ;o) My best to each of you...jg

John, this one just jumped out and grabbed me. The lighting is just superb, as is your composition. The black b/g works so well for contrast. Mr John Galyon, i think you have outdone yourself on this one. A really moving image my friend. All the best......roger

Michael...o.k., you convinced me! lol

Roger...you know that I consider you (as do so many others) to be "da man" when it comes to all things botanical, so it is especially gratifying to receive your positive comments...which I humbly accept. And...the best to you as well my friend...jg

Pamela...since we don't know each other, you'll have to decide if I'm being an unashamed "suck-up" or I'm telling you the truth...when I say that I'm very glad to see your kind comment, because earlier today I was browsing through pics and saw your photo entitled "Glad"...and thought it was a spectacularly beautiful shot. If it had been up for ratings I would have given it a 7/7...but it was posted for critique only and I just didn't have the time to comment at that moment...so, now ya know! I'll be giving your portfolio a look tonight. thanks...jg

A real sense of majesty exuding from the center. Your work in managing the color is fantastic.

i truly appreciate hearing from all of you, but in all candor... i must say that i didn't expect the response to this shot to as positive as it's been. this is one of those times that i felt that while i would get "some" favorable responses...that the 3/3 guys would eat me alive! the shot was taken in my back yard where my wife has a swath of sunflowers coming up among other wildflowers. they're all at different stages of growth...this one being at what i felt was the most interesting stage. again....thank you for your responses!

I agree that the lighting is superb!! And I agree with all of the other adjectives from above used to describe this. But what I love is the unusual depiction of a sunflower......certainly not what we would ordinarily see, but with a twist. It's a fine work of art for sure, and it's going straight into my favorites.

Extraordinary, beautifully lit, excellently composed, very accomplished processing.

But I guess the real brilliance is that you saw or envisioned this image.

Congrats.

The spot-light on the center makes this shot. Awesome composition. Well seen.

Ade, thank you so much!

Christal...i'm quirky, thus a quirky depiction of a sunflower. what can i say? ;)

Wayne, i appreciate the compliment, but i wish i was as good at "previsualization" as it might seem! i'm drawn to things that are a bit unusual, but can only take partial credit for having seen the end product when i first opened the file. some photographers "see" and work toward what they visualize before the shot. i only see so far into things beforehand...and find the magic part to be working with what the camera gave me. so...more creative post shot than pre. thanks for your comments.....john
