I do think it is good to experiment. I have to be honest and say this treatment doesn't flatter. The fact that everything is in focus is testament to your skill.

It would help if you told us what you had in mind when you decided to make this photo. I find that the physical distortions result in making the model look grotesque. That's not a negative if that's what you were after! The DOF is extraordinarily sharp and the lighting is very good.

The intent is to show the nude in a completely non-sexual, but aesthetic manner. The image is not meant to be “grotesque” any more than “Les Demoiselles d'Avignon” (see http://www.moma.org/collection/object.php?object_id=79766 ) is meant to be sexual.

 

 

The intent is a study in form and color with the face/facial expression as a primary subject/focal point. This is not meant to be a standard glamour or art nude, it is at least one (if not many) steps removed from this “standard” nude.

Thanks for giving us your thinking when you set out to do this project. In all fairness I reread my post and I realize that the word "grotesque" was a poor choice and was inappropriately used. I say that because I NEVER thought the photo was grotesque in the true sense of the word, hence the use of the word was fallacious! I grovel in mortification and beg your forgiveness if that disturbed you!

Personally, I think the pxpression works very well with the distorsion. Other times it is less important.
