and ratings. My dear friends, this shot was taken from under "Galleria Alberto Sordi" in Piazza Colonna (named for the marble Column of Marcus Aurelius). While I was standing there waiting for a Bookshop to open I saw the reading man and heard the horse coming from the left. As soon as I raised the camera the runner (reading something on his mobile!!) entered the scene I had pre-visualized. thank you by heart for commenting and rating, Giuseppe

It's some time I don't visit your "home", Giuseppe, but I was quite sure I would have seen some beautiful work and of course I was right. If things are the ones you described above I should think you are something more than lucky, but obviously it's not that. But I told you about this matter in the very first photo of yours I commented (the penitent ...).

 

Coming to the topic, I think that the black reader is a bit too black and this flattened black figure contrasts with the rich texture of the whole picture. I don't know if from the magic of the raw you can extract some gray levels for the black man to make it a 3D picture instead of the actual 2D, but I imagine that it could add some value to an already wonderful shot. thank you so much for your comment. You have mentioned quite an interesting "problem". Some people have observed (recently and in the past) that my post productions of back-light shots are way too much hard on the "blacks" of the silhouettes. This is true and comes from my past frequentations in the comics field. Usually when I print these works I am a bit more relaxed with the dark tones (and to shoot in raw format is a blessing). The mental proces of the still man reading the paper is reflected by the pace of the walking man and the moving horse opposite and yet very similar in pace. Vey nice picture,Giuseppe.

My bad that I haven't taken a closer look at this one earlier. Maybe you managed to notice that runner and the horse approaching while framing this newspaper reader, but what's most fascinating here is the impressive timing: just look how both the runner and the horse have their forwarding feet in the air, and that of the runner highlighted byt the shiny line bordering asphalt. Further see how nicely the head of the horse aligns with the head of the reader. Very lucky catch!
