whydangle 0 Posted May 9, 2009 A rare glimpse at the elusive Obama Blue Oak. It will bend but it won't break. This is as much of the tree as I could include, moving back was not an option and I was at full wide angle. I was not so concerned with losing some of the tree to the right as much as I wanted to include the top, bottom and some of the ridges in the distance. Thanks for stopping by! Link to comment
jerrymat 5 Posted May 9, 2009 Superior as cropped. The long winding trunk growing from the lower right and extending upward and toward the light works very well. I judge a composition by what my eyes do in looking at it and how long they stay active. Here I looked first to the pink light then to the bottom of the picture, traced down the slopes and seized upon the curving trunk and traced it upward, back to the pink light and a second trip the same way. I am adding it to my list of favorites. Regards, Jerry Link to comment
floris2 0 Posted May 10, 2009 Nice Mark, you're really milking that spot eh :) In this instance, the cut off tree works - the trunk bends and winds its way nicely into the frame. I particularly like the matching tones of the foreground and pink sky. Link to comment
leo burkey 0 Posted May 11, 2009 Another outstandingly beautiful image. As always very well done! Link to comment
rekaras 0 Posted May 11, 2009 OK I see your point on the base of the tree. But I don't think it would have added anything to the horizontal image you posted previously. I like it just as it was as it presents enough of the tree to enhance the image the base would have been superfluous. best regards, rek. Link to comment
pfranklin 0 Posted May 11, 2009 I like this just as it is. Everything works well and I wonder if sometimes we over think our shots.... The color is lovely, sharp and composed nicely. Best regards, Pamela Link to comment
pbarnes 0 Posted May 12, 2009 This works for me! I like the composition and the colours are exquisite. Link to comment
deans 0 Posted May 12, 2009 Mark, This is much, much better than the horizontal. The tree really tells a story here adding to the impact of your photo. Congrats on the new life coming into the world. I actually decided not to pursue a career in photography because it would have caused to much hardship on my family. I have never had any regrets for doing so. We'll see ya down the road, Dean. Jim_Dockery_Photos 2 Posted May 12, 2009 Nicely done - I agree with most, the framing is great. I especially like the grass and how it mimics the sky. 7/7 Link to comment

trisha jean-angela 5 Posted November 26, 2009 This is really beautiful; I like the way you have captured the curve of the tree trunk mimicing the upward slope of the hill. At first I thought this must be Calabassas, Thousand Oaks or Simi Valley area until I saw Tehachipi in your descriptive tags. Beautiful area and you have captured it very well. Thanks for sharing. :) Link to comment
