A man who has seen a lot of this world and still keeps a calm face and a warm heart, from his look ... Nice shot there, friend Pierre and interesting effect ...

Perfect mood!

Happy to have you here my dear friends!

About the picture - it is that size, just an experimentation with effects applying. It is very different depending on the size. This picture was so small that it showed some defects in the technical quality and I decided to practice on it, and to neutralize the background which is rather banal and unrecognizable and doesn't serve for anything except distracting! I'm glad you like it!

Thank you very much for your visit!

A very good, and original portrait. Best regards, Torfinn.

Hey Gerardo, welcome my friend!

You didn't answer my request for permission to expose the picture I made out of yours and mine, of the grandma, as an example of international cooperation of the people of good will!

About this effect, I don't even know how I did it. I got about what I wanted though, ha!

Cheers to that!

Hi Pierre!

Of course you can use it. I told you so before, and it is an great idea No problem.

Best regards, Torfinn.

Torfinn you wrote this on a wrong place!

I already exposed one picture with your butterfly, with this man, but it is not this one, ha! The question above is addressed to Gerardo, I also did a picture using his background and uploaded it on his page with the picture I used as a background and I asked him about using it, exposing it in my portfolio in the reply to one of his comments on my picture.

Thank you for allowing an old bed ridden man to use your picture!

Cheers to that! Sir!

Very intense portrait, although too much PSed, I guess. The quality of the photo itself is great, and does not need much the postprocessing you have applied (just a constructive comment, ok?). Best regards, Sigfrid.

Pierre Dumas [Frequent poster] , February 16, 2007; 07:19 A.M. (edit | delete)

Het Sigfrid, you came at last!

I agree that it's not well done, but you should have seen the original. I think this is still better. Especially for the removing of the useless background. The painting effect is lousy, no doubt about it! I will do something better one day or even sooner!

Cheers to that!

Are you old enough to have a picture of George Bernard Shaw?

Pierre Dumas [Frequent poster] , December 10, 2007; 12:39 A.M. (edit | delete)

Jack, sorry for the delay with my reply!

It's only eight months delay though, ha! Yes, I am that old, but not old enough to have taken it, ha!

Cheers to my youth!

Excellent Image

This is such a strong portrait. I love the expression you've caught here, and the tones are just perfect. It looks so much like a canvas painting. Just great work! -David

Great portrait

The portrait is good by itself and the PP add more to it.

Congratulations,

Luis

Excellent photo processing, Pierre...it seemed that you applied a "texture" filter to obtain an astounding end process. Even the tone is well selected to match the subject. It's a masterpiece bound for glory...seriously speaking.

but much less bushy.

The treatment seems effective to me.  Almost makes it seem that you are an old man viewing an old man.

now, i would really like to know what you think of my latest crit request, an image called "E. 2 (Leica lens)."  best, j

Very expressive portrait. I image this man on the road (or in a small store), talking with many people, and seeing the world running away. OK the format of the image, adapted to tall face. Ok PP (double set of stripes: very good idea). BW enhances face and his white beard. Congrats. Best regards from Italy, Antonio

This is a very subtle portrayal of age and the wisdom that comes with it.  The furrows in the subject's brow indicate he is deep in concentration - perhaps about his life (perhaps about the person shooting a photograph of him).

I really like the high-key treatment of his hair.  It retains its detail, yet it seems to merge into the background.

Outstanding work, my friend.....

This effect truly suits the image of this very 'gentle' looking man. I'm sure he has sold more 'watermelons' than he cares to think of, yet he works hard no doubt.  Good work Pierre. Sincerely, Gail

Excellent picture, congratulations!

The model is a unique character, he is like a prophet beyond good and evil... The post process of the photo is artistic and perfect.

Best regards,

Karoly

Excellent character and a very nice portrait. I like the noise, give a texture to the image and more like a charcoal art work.

Cheers.

Thank you, Emmanuel!

He was a watermelon seller in a small town near the Greek border! Where the immigrants want to enter in Europe nowadays!
