Hi Tony!

You have selected an appropriate effect, applied it well, and created a wonderful and moody piece of art from an already very good photo.

I would expect no less from you... ;-)

I do have a passing thought though regarding images with a fine-grained texture. They often contain some specks that look like ''hot pixels'' that are best removed with minimal use of a 'salt-and-pepper' filter. They are artifacts of the texture filter. I can find about 30 such specks in this image.

This is much the same as final 'spotting' of a pro print at the lab. The ''Finishing Step'' in print production.

As you may have noticed, I tend to be a perfectionist... on images where it counts. ;-)

Regards,

Dave

Gail - thanks very much for your kind words.

Dave - you of eagle eyes - mine are not as good as they used to be. Are you referring to some white spots on his trousers. I intentionally made that part a bit gritty. It is not often that i get input like yours and it is appreciated. As a consequence I will look at it a few white spots that i see on his trousers and decide whether to clone them out.

Lawrence - thanks for being so excited about this image.

Richard, Keith and Marjorie - thanks for your nice words.

Warm regards to everyone.

Koushik: I am glad you liked the treatment.

Bobby: I found it attractive also.

Rashed: it starts with a decent image and I think the treatment makes it a bit unique.

Pierre: can't fool you.

Richard: I am glad you liked it. Since you are familiar with Montreal, the church is at the corner of University and St.Catherine street.

I appreciate your visits and comments - have a very good day and best regards,

Tony, what can I say but agree with all the other 307 viewers who had the chance to view this excellent capture and works before me. This one caught my eye immediately whilst browsing through all the other captures taken over the weekend by others.Congrats on another great work done here.Warmest Regards

Not a technique I would ever think of using................... until now.  I'm sure this takes the original capture and elevates it to a whole new & high level.   Don't have to see the original to appreciate the artistic application applied here.   Painterly indeed!  Poster stuff! Iconic!  Almost 'Rockwell'  (that would be Norman, not Ken)  How many times have we all seen this scene across the country?  (an empathetic trigger)  Good capture,  great artistic manipulation, superb result.  Best, LM

I would never have thought of using HDR? on a human, but I have to say it is very effective, intense and striking! Ingenius and original.

Very well done Tony!

Alf
