wieslawmamon 0 Posted April 23, 2009 This, imho, is a really well observed story which touches important, or I'd better say, essential matters. In the foreground we see the men going their own way as if in a hurry, probably too busy to even look up. This may work as a perfect portrait of the contemporary world with people having their feet firmly on the ground and not caring much about the sacred. The Calvary scene in the background also seem as if out of context and this impression is enhanced by the height the cross is at. At first sight, the holy and the earthly have very little or nothing in common here. However, His caring and patient look from the cross at the indifferent passer-bys changes this chilly relation into inexplicable but really strong relationship. The composition is well arranged, the only element which I'd prefer not to see is the lamp which covers the cross a little, even though this also has its meaning. Very interesting and reflective work anyway, thank you Giuseppe and best regards -wm Link to comment
