laurent_jaussi 0 Posted January 14, 2009 Looking at your series, I am always amazed how proselytist some Americans are (be it for religion, politics, etc....)....in Europe (well at least in the countries I often travel)....you pactically never see such messages in the back of cars (and more generally in the streets) about these subject matters...that's why I look at these images with curiousity and with both a social and documentary eye...it's fascinates me this apparent need (that some people have) to convince neighbors about what they think is right on those matters...well I guess it can also become frightening at some point.... bosshogg 4 Posted January 14, 2009 Ah, yes! America. It was founded on an attitude which pretty much told the old world to go to hell. Ever since then the evangelists have been telling us we're going to hell if we don't follow their particular brand of god de jour. Bumper stickers in America replace legitimate debate and thoughtful cogitation with snappy little snippets. I think it must be difficult for Europeans (and others) to comprehend such penchants. geu4king 2 Posted January 15, 2009 Interesting comments..... Well, as an American, all I can say is that we are a Country made up of geneticaly mixed ethnic groups... myself Scotish, Irish, German!?! So, I guess bumper stickers are part of our unique, mixed culture... Anyway... David I like the treatment you have used... a very dificult one to come up with a Magnificent Composition as you have done!!! Excellent work and subject!!! Link to comment
michaellinder 16,613 Posted January 15, 2009 Sorry, but the ratings monster devoured the ratings this photograph earned. I do like the treatment here. The alterations you've made are quite effective. I especially like the taillight lens colors. I won't enter the ring about the bumper stickers. What I find quite interesting is a correlation between the Lincoln Town Car and the Bush/Cheney administration; both are being phased out. Good stuff . . . Keep 'em comin' ! michael Link to comment
mnelson 0 Posted January 16, 2009 I'll supress my loathing and rate this for what it's artistic content and not it's content alone. M 6/6 anon Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted January 18, 2009 I like how you've taken the message and visually turned it inside-out with a creepy neon transformation. The Bush/Cheney sticker is positively frightening. Link to comment
alight 0 Posted January 19, 2009 I can see you're up to your usually unusual stuff. You potrayed this in an interesting way with the post-processing. Seeing the presidential sticker there, I feel like pouring V8 over it. And yes, using the Lincoln name the way you did with the photo and the caption is a pure Meyerism. There...a new word. Cheers, Micheal Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 5, 2009 Nothing from you in a long time. I hope everything is ok with you and that this is just a temporary creative hiatus. Regards, Jack Link to comment
