pnital 36 Posted January 5, 2009 Found in the street, but belongs as well to pets, wonderful human friends. Thanks for your thoughts. Link to comment
Donna Stavis 0 Posted January 5, 2009 I'm embarassed that this is in my part of the world (oiy!), but even though he may be oblivious to his own state of affairs, or that of his pants (!), he's got those leashes together. The dogs look slightly depressed, like "My human friend is clueless. Can you help?" Ani echotov lach. Link to comment
jim kerr 0 Posted January 5, 2009 Hi Pnina, I have the feeling this may be in the USA.......This dude is real cool, his pants look as though they may drop to his knees when stands up.......Over here we call someone that notices such things as an "eagle eye".....Eagles see very well.......You are always on the ball........Jim Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted January 5, 2009 Pnina; Funny enough I just got through calling you " eagle eye " earlier this morning on one of my photos ... and yes this was well seen. I notice, ever increasingly, that people out on the street are so fixated on those tech devices which they seem to have welded to their hands, that the real world just does not penetrate their consciousness any longer. The air must have been still or else he would have noticed a breeze in his pants :-) Interesting that the guy is staring at his Blackberry, the one dog is staring at something on the ground and the other dog is the only one of the three to have noticed you, and it is staring straight into the lens. At least someone on that bench was paying attention! I like your B&W in this photo - lovely soft light and lots of tonal range. Link to comment

pnital 36 Posted January 5, 2009 Donna, we are glued to the TV, and it is not easy, PN is a pause for me. It was a very touching scene seeing him in his personal state, but still having who to call using his cell phone, and the two sweet friends of his. I think that for me it was nicer to see him with the dogs than without them.... Jim, I don't think I have an " eagle eye", but I developed my seeing of details. This was a bit an unusual scene. Thanks for your feedback Gord, Thanks to you too for the "eagle eye" I will soon start to think of myself as an "eagle" ...LOL. As I wrote you on your winter photo, and as I wrote to Jim , I have just developed my observation of what I'm looking at, in photos of others and on those I'm photographing. It was a bit funny and a bit touching looking at the trio. Thanks for your detailed comment, and your observation of the B/W conversion, that I'm still learning to do better. Jim H, thanks for the feedback ! I'm glad you enjoy my work as I enjoy your macros. Thanks as well for your wishes, and the same are my wishes to you. Jose, I'm glad I succeeded in transferring the scene that touched me . Thanks for your comment. Link to comment

michaellinder 16,612 Posted January 6, 2009 Excellent capture of an interesting scene (albeit not out of the ordinary in NYC!!). This shot is well seen and superbly composed. I would love to tell this man to put away his cell phone for just a little while, and to savor the opportunity to hang out with his dogs. Oh well . . . My compliments . . . michael Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted January 6, 2009 i am always drawn to the ironic, and love the fact that the dogs are better groomed than the man :-) Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted January 6, 2009 the dogs have a wonderful expression of seriousness and class that their master I am afraid is somehow lacking in this image (I did not say it generally, let's respect the guy :-)...not to mention the hole in his trousers... Link to comment
bob_belanger 1 Posted January 7, 2009 Actually this is very funny. What's his best friend? the dogs or the phone? interesting delema... Link to comment
morophaenixmau 22 Posted January 7, 2009 I prefer cats but, in this case,...they are terribly lovely!...Ciaomau! Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted January 7, 2009 Funny, I think the dogs have more presence and personality than their master. Like so many today, he finds himself leaking into the virtual world while the dogs are firmly anchored in this one. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted January 7, 2009 How incredibly well-groomed the dogs are in comparison to their slovenly and oblivious owner. Well, a wonderful example of unconditional love. Link to comment
daily_photograph 0 Posted January 8, 2009 O.K., the guardians averting that you aspy the typed numbers could do a good job beside the cash dispenser as well ... (You changed the colour of his underpants?) Link to comment
Funtak 0 Posted January 8, 2009 The man had his own list of priorities..some air would not make permanent dammage... Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted January 8, 2009 We all need room to breathe from time to time. Well seen capture Pnina. It is funny, ironic and very telling of today's society. Link to comment

bosshogg 4 Posted January 9, 2009 This is an interesting study in relative circumstances. Many of us would have an inclination to view this as representative of how technology has taken over and dominated us. Most countries now find their citizens glued to cell phones most of the time. It is hilarious to watch a group of teens in a burger joint or Starbuck's. They are together as a group, but almost all of them are either talking on their cell phones, or constantly fiddling with them to play games, text message or god knows what all those things can do. So they are sucked into a world where oblivion to immediate surroundings are the norm. It is easy to adapt that circumstance to this man. On the other hand, if we consider that Israel is at war, and (contrary to the U.S.) that the war impacts its citizens immensely, then we might be more tolerant (less judgmental) of his behavior. As for the two pooches, I think there is a certain resemblance in appearance to their master. Now that's funny. Link to comment
