In the Studio, working on creating a new dance, that is a slow developing process.

Thanks for your impressions

Pnina, the composition is wonderful and even more interesting is the feel of bright daylight. I can appreciate the technical effort and the difficulty of pre-visualization, but the mirror (or window) is maybe just a little too prominent. On the other hand, it serves as a nice backdrop for the darker front figure.

**This is a mandatory critique to avoid the perception of reciprocal jibber. :-)

Milena, for your comment, I like to try slow shutter speed from time to time, it helps a lot in producing special results.

Glauco, thanks as well for your visit and comment.

Mary, I have sent you an email with the photos, please let me know if you have received them. Thanks for your feedback

Michael, the rehearsals are done in a very large studio,FULL with big windows, and even though we close the shutters( white ones as well), it is still very strongly lighted, I work with under exposure, because the light is so strong. Still as the dancer was wearing black clothes and a net( the dance will have lots of colored nets, as the narrative is special, I will tell about the concept when the dance will advance, it is only the beginning.)

You made me smile with the last line.... You were so right at the forum! Thanks for your comment AND the smile.

Very delicate, ver appealing dreamlike capture. I see the higher contrast between the dark person inside the blinding light section as essential, not becoming too soft for my tastes anyway. More of these, please!

The energy of creativity with little backdrop and no distraction of facial features is a beautiful thing to watch. Such delicate, soulful "ru'ach," (spirit) of dance, creativity, movement, light.

Markku ,for stopping by and commenting. It is appreciated. I think that the light in this case was compatible to the subject.I work on more results of expressing the spirit of the dance.

Vladimir ,thanks as well

Donna, I'm glad you have felt the spirit of the dance, thats what I try all the time to express.

Pierre , thanks for acknowledging the title. For me it is part of creating a photo.

Sergio, glad you like dance photos, thanks and be my guest.;-))

Never has the old cliche "poetry in motion" been so applicable. There is the physical, but there is also the spiritual, and this seems to have wedded them together for all time. Very nice.

I like this one it has a strong balance to it with the positioning of the foreground and background figures in the frame. The three horizontal lines from the bars and the floor line give depth and structure to the scene. The diagonal flow of the floorboards goes well with the diagonal flow of the dancers. I agree with Markku about the window. I particularly like its reflection on the hardwood and how that interacts with the dark clothing of the dancer. I do understand Michael's concern with the brightness of the window. To me however the issue is more with the way that the whiteness runs out of the top of the frame. If I were to be concerned with that aspect I would be more tempted to contain the area rather than dimming it. I will attach a quick and sloppy example to illustrate my suggestion. ( I wanted it to appear as a link but despite PN warning me that it would only be a link unless I titled the attachment the image comes through this way irregardless. I do wish that PN would sort this out or maybe it's just me somehow missing something ? )

My absolute favourite part of this image is the dancer in white on the back right. I cannot stop thinking about Picasso and cubism when I look at that portion of the frame. A kind of soft gentle cubism. Although I love the entire photo that one section is pure poetry to me, I could look at it all day.

Pnina, very interesting indeed. Your handling of the movement gives this an ephemeral feel, especially in the curved lines on both sides of the main figure. The pastel tones match the theme perfectly.

Dave, I'm glad you liked the spiritual as well as the physical, they are connected ;-))

Andrea, it is a studio rehearsal, I always try to combine the dance and its environment

Gord, a lot of thanks to you, for your extensive evaluation, I tried this possibility of the window, and could not decide which I think is better, so you gave me thinking material.I don't mind that it is not a link, so members can see another possibility

I agree with you about the second figure,.I like it and think that it is balancing the first one.I understand why you thought it reminds the cubism

It has some of its characteristic ( when it started.....) .Thanks again Gord, I was invited to send my work again to the dance center contest in USA, this its one of the possibilitiesI think of.

Roger, glad to see you back, and here.It is important to me to get members impression, to help me decide what to send to the contest.....thanks

Jim, thanks, part of Umberto Boccioni work was really about the dynamism of movement, thanks for reminding him here.

Paula, she is wrapped with a black net ! It will be part of the dance.

Kind of image you can't do twice and the visual effect is really wonderful. Looks like ghosts and I guess it could work in B&W also. All the best.
