Guest Guest Posted November 16, 2008 The overall impression is quite strong and rich--my compliments. Your choice of a radial gradient for the background adds immeasurably to the impact. You are slightly backfocused--not terribly so--but it makes the sharp detail of the twisted metal at the neck more conspicuous than it needs to be, and I'd suggest selecting that area, reducing contrast ever so slightly and adding just a bit of blur. The edges you cut out aren't obvious here, but they will stand out more in a larger print. Try brushing them lightly with the Smudge tool. No tones at the tip of the right ear should be exactly those of the background, even if that's what they are in your original scene--looks too much like a cutout. There's a saying that the Devil is in the details. So is God. Link to comment

mauroni 0 Posted November 17, 2008 I rated yesterday 6/6 anon thiw image, but I didn't realized it was yours. Great B&W conversion, so rich that it seems to be a color picture. Compliments, Mauro Link to comment
jerrymat 5 Posted November 18, 2008 A nice rendering of a statuette of a horse's head. Who is to get the credit for art: the original sculptor or the photographer? Certainly the photographer did less work. And adding the oppressive black heavy frame really hurts it a lot. Link to comment
chrisr1 0 Posted November 18, 2008 Thaks all for your very interesting comment. It is always a pleasure to photograph the works of the brothers Pinna. They are young artists with a lot of talent. I never know if the photo is as high as their talent. Link to comment
