sven keil 0 Posted November 8, 2008 Taken at ISO1600 with the D70s (raw). I experimented with D-lighting, layers, blurring etc until I finally arrived at this result, and it seems (to me at least) that the noise adds something special to the image, without the gain it would look more dull. What do you think? Link to comment
andrew748 0 Posted November 8, 2008 great angle, moody image, how did the noise look? Link to comment
spenaloza 0 Posted November 9, 2008 Hi Keil, I love cathedrals and churches, I think the best way to get the better of this kind of shots, is HDR , due to the heavy contrast of light , this is a beautiful structure but I cannnot see any detail, always use when possible , a tripod , good luck and happy shooting , best regards //Salvador Link to comment
sven keil 0 Posted November 9, 2008 Hi, Thanks for your comments! In fact I had a tripod with me that day (and I would have liked to take this picture in HDR rather than extended DR) - but the time you need to set it up is usually longer than the reaction time of the ubiquitous security guys. In Spain people are very restrictive about taking photos in building. Link to comment
jmcconnell2 0 Posted November 9, 2008 I think you really captured the depth of the vaults, very well done. Link to comment
dean 0 Posted November 9, 2008 I really like the idea, but I, too, was thinking HDR would have been neat. It is my new favorite technique! :) Beautiful chapel! Link to comment
PeterKrenek 26 Posted November 15, 2008 It is special, but I would prefer the realistic look. The composition works well. I had no trouble shooting with tripod in the Salamanca cathedral (see my Travel folder). Things may have changed since 2004, though. Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted November 17, 2009 I think the shadow actually adds to this image rather than detracts from it, the unseen elements add an air of mystery, and overall image conveys a moody gothic look to me. I like it! Kind Regards Alf Link to comment
