Lacerda 1 Posted September 3, 2008 What a beauty! I would like to see it with more close up, all the best. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted September 3, 2008 I don't do flower pics (either take or critique), but, if I did, I'd tell you that this is nice. That color is delicious and it stands out so nicely that you'd swear it was 3D. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted September 3, 2008 Only you could catch the mating dance of the orchid. Link to comment

gordonjb 10,860 Posted September 3, 2008 Joao Pereira; I do have some images of these flowers which are closer, I will try to get one posted. In this case I was attempting to balance the open bloom and the two developing buds along with the single leaf blade into a harmonious composition and this required stepping back a bit. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, much appreciated. David: Well there you go, you just gave your first flower critique... that wasn't too painful was it :-) BTW I enjoyed my morning coffee today reading over the comments on two of your recent portraits. Very nice images and I learned quite a bit by listening in on your tutelage. I too am rather shy about approaching people to ask for their portrait , which is why I spend so much time in swamps shooting orchids. Jack; Thankfully, orchid mating is a slow motion ballet, so there is plenty of time to get down on the ground and set up the shot. When you see a bunch of these Calopogons swaying in the breeze they really do look like they are dancing. Michel; Thanks for taking the time to share your impressions. I have been experimenting with trying to make the background bokeh a stronger part of my compositions with my floral photos this season, I appreciate you noticing. Link to comment

pnital 36 Posted September 4, 2008 At last I can tell you how I have enjoyed it in" No Word" forum....;-)). It IS a dancing ballet of an Orchid, and your collection of them, for me, is the most beautiful and unique collection of nature flowers. The color and form is breath taking, I love the BG that accentuate it ,and the unusual upper white/yellowish( a bit) part. I can imagin what a celebration it will be when the two buds will be opened.... Thanks! Link to comment
