Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted August 25, 2008 The great Frank Lloyd Wright Building which has had its share of controversies over the years, most notable of which was the events of August, 1970, in which the Black Panthers took over a courtroom in the building in an attempt to negotiate the release of some of their members held hostage. The police responded by force, resulting in the death of four people, including the lead hostage taker, Jnathan Jackson, and the judge, Harold Haley. In 1975, the Symbionese Liberation Army planted a bomb in the parking lot, destroying two police cruisers. This building was the inspiration of the sets for the movie "Star Wars". Today, it houses most of the official offices of Marin County, including CourthouseL, where I happened to be on August 21 to attend a rather innocuous Case Management Conference. Link to comment

kslonaker 0 Posted August 30, 2008 Love the strong lighting/shadows. The addition of the man in the shot gives it life and interest. I think otherwise it may have been too "commercial" and stark. Nice work! Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted September 1, 2008 Helluva shot, Emmanuel. The graphics of the building are right out of a 70's futuristic comic book and the visitor is the perfect addition both as a breath of life and to provide scale. Added later: I made these comments prior to reading your interesting notes on the building. I'm familiar with it and have passed it many times going from SF to Novato where my sister lives. This is the first time I have seen the inside, though. Thanks. Link to comment

knobby6 1 Posted September 2, 2008 I remember looking at this and reading your description, and I thought I had commented on it. Ahh, old age must be creeping up on me from the shadows. Impressive use of light/shadows....quite a dynamic range. Link to comment
bretsch 0 Posted September 2, 2008 FL Wright's architecture certainly gives you the opportunity to achieve great things; however, that would be nothing, if not for your proficiency behind a lens. Congratulations!!! Link to comment
