shedances 0 Posted February 23, 2009 I generally come here looking for inspiration to write a poem. When I saw your photograph it took me back many years ago to one that I wrote. I ask your permission to post it. deborah Link to comment
shedances 0 Posted February 24, 2009 A Perfect Vessel by deborah elaine barrie 1980© There lies upon a table A shapeless lump of clay No purpose in its being No meaning in its day. But enters in the potter A master at his art His eyes behold an image As he begins to start. Upon the wheel he molds it With hands of utmost skill Alas the clay defies him Too flawed to meet his will. He does not take another More suited to his plans But from the wheel removes it And works it with his hands. At last it seems to please him And he begins anew To mold a perfect vessel As he first set out to do. Three times I watched in wonder Three times the master failed Without one trace of hopelessness At last his will prevailed. The clay was molded slowly No flaw his eye could find The master had perfected The image of his mind. Then God’s Spirit whispered gently A great lesson you’ve been taught Your Father was the Master And you my child, the pot. Link to comment
