bosshogg 4 Posted July 23, 2008 A biker on RAGBRAI--a moveable party consisting of roughly fifteen thousand happy and zany folks traveling across the state of Iowa in one week. Link to comment
dberryhill 3 Posted July 23, 2008 Here's my new wallpaper. My wife does a similar trek in Ohio each year. She will love this! I just hope she doesn't get too enamored of those glasses. This nicely captures the feel of those events, at least as far as I know vicariously. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted July 23, 2008 I hope you will tell your wife about RAGBRAI and that the two of you will come and do it sometime. I rode it about twenty years ago. It is the most fantastic event I know of. I think the only similar thing I've ever done to match it was doing the Boston Marathon. But for sheer interaction with people, this event is unparalleled. Everyone is so cool and never do you hear a complaint (well maybe a bitch or two about the hills). At every small town the ride passes through all the townsfolk come out to greet the riders, and there is so much food that the year I did it I gained seven pounds. Imagine, gaining seven pounds in a week in which you traversed five hundred miles on a bike! If you or your wife ever have a chance to do it, I urge you to take the leap. It shows the better side of humanity. And that's a rarity these days. Link to comment

bosshogg 4 Posted July 26, 2008 They do indeed. That's the sort of thing I could never wear. Link to comment
Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted July 26, 2008 The Red White and Blue palette is fitting for the subject. The University of Nebraska Red jersey, the bald gentleman in the background, the table in the background, all yell summer weekend in the Red States. Her sime, open and inviting, rounds out this ode to the Heartland. Well done. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted July 26, 2008 A charming portrait. The glasses and her winning smile make for happy times. I like the details in the back of the photo, which give a sense of the event. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted July 26, 2008 Thank you. On RABRAI there is so much good will and so many wonderful smiles, that one would have to be a pretty bad photographer to not get a "nice" image here and there. And I've got to tell you those folks in the background are selling homemade pies, which can be found all day everyday on this ride. The year I rode RAGBRAI it was just under five hundred miles in one week, and I gained seven pounds. I think that says it all about the food. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted July 26, 2008 Knowing your background I suspect you are familiar with this ride. I know it is something you could appreciate. A few things like this revive my faith and reverence for our fading culture. Link to comment
jbidarra 0 Posted July 26, 2008 Great "on location" portrait that gives some context to the photo- I like her expression and of course her original glasses. Regards. Link to comment
