rarmstrong 0 Posted July 2, 2008 few activities in life are as serene as paddling on a glassy northern lake in the early morning...comments appreciated, thank you! Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted July 2, 2008 This really has a lot of appeal. I don't know much about boats, but that thing looks like a beauty. I'm very fond of the color palette and texture of the water in this one. Top notch! Bravissimo Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted July 2, 2008 Thank you, David! This is a Merrimac canoe that I bought about 20 years ago. The guy that builds these used to build full wooden canoes, but they don't last as long as fiberglass and kevlar so he compromised and put fiberglass on the outside and cherry ribbing on the inside with the rest of the wooden trim in ash. I need to clean and oil the wood, but it's still in great shape. I appreciate the nice comment! Have a good night! Dick Link to comment
elportebonheur 0 Posted July 2, 2008 Great shot, Dick - and the canoe is a piece of art itself. Regards, El Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted July 2, 2008 Thank you very much, El! The canoe just adds to the ambience of the lake! Link to comment
kuzem 0 Posted July 10, 2008 The muted colors and tones look great here Dick. The boat has this new look sheen to it when shot in this light. Link to comment
robert becker 0 Posted February 25, 2009 Very nice photo. I'm fond of wooden boats. One thing before you're "Ready For The Lake" though....don't forget the life jackets! Link to comment
rarmstrong 0 Posted February 25, 2009 Thank you, Robert! This is a composite of cherry and ash on the inside and fiberglass on the outside with a wide beam which makes it great for lake paddling. This is my photo platform for those early mornings when the lake is glassy smooth and I can sneak up on the herons and loons(and more), by quietly drifting along the shore. I always wear my lifejacket:-) Best regards, Dick Link to comment
