A success of an actor/dancer in all the performing arts, (and arts in general) is imo the ability to transmite something from the deep contents of his/her personality.

Dima Tolpanov is a multi layer /director/performer/artist.. in the "Shell" theatre.

Thanks for your impressions.

Pnina, it is also the skill of the photographer to capture the mood and personality of the performer.I like the intense concentration in his eyes, as if he is in a trance, while performing.

yes, you've captured his projection... almost metaphisical quality emanating from within... I am under impression his projection does not miss his reality by much (?)

... I mean... at least when he is by himself (?)

Magnetically intriguing and spellbinding. The stern gaze of the eyes is what makes this composition.

Jamie, for visiting and commenting

Doug, glad you liked it.

Joaquim, the eyes are telling a lot, you are right.

Janusz, I like the metaphisical definition. he is so talented, and rich inside.

Adan, Magnetically is another right definition, a great artist.

Donna, I was not aware of the cross form before, but it is random, . his eyes and movements and his expressions are his great skills.

Those eyes are so haunted and appear to be internally focused on whatever is transpiring in his head, rather than what is occurring outside in the audience. I love the blurred hands.

The motion blur + his concentrated expression in his music make this a very good stage performer shot.

moving and intense, technically well done. Maybe the facial expression, maybe the violin, don't know why, but this photo has reminded me of an old Jewish song, Ani Ma'amin "I believe", thank you, Giuseppe

Wonderful capture Pnina ! Love the way the light is on the face, brings so much more

mood to the eyes and expression. Blur gives us the action "Now"... excellent!!!

I came to know this song through some friends of mine who live in my hometown, Livorno. Rabbi Elio Toaff once asked my wife (who is a writer and singer) to learn this song and others in order to give a performance. The song (and its story) are moving. Ciao, Giuseppe

If you would be so kind, I would love to hear how you came to be positioned for this shot. The lighting is perfect. Are you in the balcony with a 70-200 2.8 or perhaps on a ladder stage left? Has the performer seen this image yet?

I have my corner in that small theatre, I seat in the last row on the left, a place that gives me a good angle of the stage, and the raws have a nice gradient form, I can stand in the middle as well as I don't disturbe the others. I use my lens Canon 70/200 mm, F 4.

I have sent the photos to them and also prepared a CD. they were out of the country for some weeks ( in a festival) I will meet them next week.

Thanks for your interest.

The look in his eyes is so striking, and the transfixed look on his face is in such wonderful contrast to the movement in this arms -- a wonderful photograph.
