pnital 36 Posted June 29, 2008 A success of an actor/dancer in all the performing arts, (and arts in general) is imo the ability to transmite something from the deep contents of his/her personality. Dima Tolpanov is a multi layer /director/performer/artist.. in the "Shell" theatre. Thanks for your impressions. Link to comment
doug_gentry 0 Posted June 29, 2008 Emotional and dramatic! The motion adds to the drama! Excellent view Pnina! Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted June 29, 2008 Pnina, it is also the skill of the photographer to capture the mood and personality of the performer.I like the intense concentration in his eyes, as if he is in a trance, while performing. Link to comment
jbidarra 0 Posted June 29, 2008 Great photo. Great expression mainy the eyes. Very good bw tones and light. Regards. Link to comment
janusz1 0 Posted June 30, 2008 yes, you've captured his projection... almost metaphisical quality emanating from within... I am under impression his projection does not miss his reality by much (?) ... I mean... at least when he is by himself (?) Regards Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted June 30, 2008 Magnetically intriguing and spellbinding. The stern gaze of the eyes is what makes this composition. Link to comment
Donna Stavis 0 Posted June 30, 2008 Somber and delicate. The eyes are intriguing. The violin, a cross. His body moves as if dancing. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted June 30, 2008 Jamie, for visiting and commenting Doug, glad you liked it. Joaquim, the eyes are telling a lot, you are right. Janusz, I like the metaphisical definition. he is so talented, and rich inside. Adan, Magnetically is another right definition, a great artist. Donna, I was not aware of the cross form before, but it is random, . his eyes and movements and his expressions are his great skills. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted June 30, 2008 An intriguing picture. It's as if he were playing music that only he can hear. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted June 30, 2008 Those eyes are so haunted and appear to be internally focused on whatever is transpiring in his head, rather than what is occurring outside in the audience. I love the blurred hands. Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted June 30, 2008 The motion blur + his concentrated expression in his music make this a very good stage performer shot. Link to comment
giuseppe_pasquali 0 Posted June 30, 2008 moving and intense, technically well done. Maybe the facial expression, maybe the violin, don't know why, but this photo has reminded me of an old Jewish song, Ani Ma'amin "I believe", thank you, Giuseppe Link to comment
andrea allison 0 Posted July 1, 2008 Wonderful capture Pnina ! Love the way the light is on the face, brings so much more mood to the eyes and expression. Blur gives us the action "Now"... excellent!!! Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted July 1, 2008 Jack,I'm glad the feeling passed to you , No surprise. ;-)) Jeff, it IS his skills, his eyes are " talking" here, he is funny too, multi talents this performer. Cherlyn, as usual , you know to see and feel, thanks. Giuseppe, interesting association of "Ani Ma'amin," I wonder how you came to know this song? Thanks for writing it to me. Andrea, I'm glad you connected to it.Thanks as well. Link to comment
giuseppe_pasquali 0 Posted July 1, 2008 I came to know this song through some friends of mine who live in my hometown, Livorno. Rabbi Elio Toaff once asked my wife (who is a writer and singer) to learn this song and others in order to give a performance. The song (and its story) are moving. Ciao, Giuseppe Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted July 2, 2008 Giuseppe, thanks for the explanation. I knew Prof. Toaff in Israel, and knew he has family in Italy, probably your friend the rabbi. , small world ... ;-)) Link to comment
jim kerr 0 Posted July 3, 2008 Pnina, I feel as if I could hear the sounds of his soul. A great capture, my friend......Jim Link to comment
emotive 0 Posted July 11, 2008 If you would be so kind, I would love to hear how you came to be positioned for this shot. The lighting is perfect. Are you in the balcony with a 70-200 2.8 or perhaps on a ladder stage left? Has the performer seen this image yet? Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted July 11, 2008 I have my corner in that small theatre, I seat in the last row on the left, a place that gives me a good angle of the stage, and the raws have a nice gradient form, I can stand in the middle as well as I don't disturbe the others. I use my lens Canon 70/200 mm, F 4. I have sent the photos to them and also prepared a CD. they were out of the country for some weeks ( in a festival) I will meet them next week. Thanks for your interest. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted October 28, 2008 The look in his eyes is so striking, and the transfixed look on his face is in such wonderful contrast to the movement in this arms -- a wonderful photograph. Link to comment
