The artist in repose. And what glorious, sparkling surroundings. Nicely done, David.

Very good exotic model. The photographer also plays a key role here directing the model. We can see that there is some cumplicity between the two. Also very nice contrast between what we can see in the background (alcohol in a bar - road to perdition) and what we know about the photographer and his model, two people that seem to be a model in terms of public virtues. Great message, great photo. Regards.

Thanks. This was taken in February, 2007, when Juan hosted me and we were out on a day of photo shooting. We had lunch here, but not a drop of alcohol (didn't want to impaired our artistic sensibilities, although for many an artist it has seemed to help). Yukon Jack is Juan's preferred vice. That is next to doing send ups of folks on Pnet.

Man you were headed in the right direction in all of your comments until you got to that stuff about the virtue of the photog and the model. You were only half right on that one. I think Juan likes being in front of the camera almost as much as he likes to be behind it.

Captured in situ I assume :)

I've not met Juan but I think I have some small sense of the man from his words and his photographs and you seem to have nailed that sense of warmth and peace which his work radiates.

Thanks. With him it's pretty easy. BTW, if you are ever out in the middle of Montana, they served a pretty good cheeseburger here and I got several good (my opinion) photos right around here. Oh, and go see Juan.

I said exotic but I was obviously kidding. Seing this photo and other self-portraits I would say that he really has charisma and he looks charming. Regards.

The guy looks like quite a character. Really nice tones for an inside shot, especially a bar. Did you post this picture before? I seem to have a sense of deja vous but perhaps it's just another of my "senior moments".

JESUS...! You gotta be desperate to begin a social commentary thread on this loozzer! Day after tomorrow I celebrate 50 years and one month of stumbling around on this planet...one month with out holding a bottle of that Yukon Jack....this image just drove me to buy a bottle...almost as much as your visit did! ...hehehe

Yes... Jack...he posted this before in living FN color...

Gordon...the only thing radiating in this image was Mr. Meyer's flatulence...but thanks for the warm words...

I have posed for many a photography students who are now famous because they kept my image in their portfolio...That last statement proves that I am a legend...if not only in my own mind...Oh...I am for hire...(posing in the nude is extra!)

Juaquim....It was the model directing the photographer in this case....several times I had to mention to David to remove the lens cap and to whipe the mustard from the pop up flash...He was able to chew the third cheese burger between sneezing and coughing and throwing the snot covered tissues onto the floor of my pick-up truck...I really didn't mind though...the tissues helped clean up all the mud David had tracked in...

Big guy....what were you thinking posting this again...you really have other work that is far better...juan

For an old guy your memory is damned good. Because I've had some problems with b & w conversions lately, I've been looking for images that I thought worked well in b & w. So I'm practicing.

Two reasons to post. One is to drive you nuts (even more than you are now). The other is that when one gets a good model, one goes with it. Hell, you've probably taken ten thousand images of yourself, so I don't see you with a legitimate complaint about a couple more. As for that nude modeling thing, how much extra would you pay to have me take it?

And, about those tissues and being sick. I'm thinking it could have been an allergic reaction to you. I haven't had that problem since I left your place. I still love you though.

David and Juan, great Collaboration, you two ! , made me smile again. ( I wish to be the third there...;-))

First see DR. Juan's portrait, with that BG that does not have exactly medical contents....LOL

But Juan has a nice friendly face and smile. and good to meet him Hi Juan !

and David , your B/W works well here !

Thanks. Don't let that friendly face fool you. His bite is a lot worse than his bark. He often says nasty things about my pictures and has been known to cast aspersions upon my character.

Nah, just kidding, Pnina. He's really a pretty good guy, although his wife and dog are nicer. You, Juan and me at the bar in Montana. Now that's a picture I'd give a thousand bucks for.

so I can see the doc is either a biker, a lumber Jack, or the last surviving Viking in North America. He looks like such a cuddly fur ball...only if he was holding a bottle of beet juice... My only suggestion is to change the settings from an evil alcohol bar to a frozen food section in the local supermarket. Nice composition and light. V8 to Dr. De Santa Anna! Micheal

So, you don't like Yukon Jacik? Man you mix that with V8 and you'd be Superman. As for the bar, we were in a very rural area. By the clock it looks like it was 2 o'clock and we were eating lunch. There aren't any MacDonalds or anything else out in these parts. Bars serve a pretty important function as social gathering spots, restaurants and drinking establishments. I'm going to have to import you to a few places like this for a month or two to broaden your horizons. :)

You've got the money and I've got the time. Come on out and I'll drive you up there. We'd have a ball.

Thanks a lot. One great thing about that visit is that having a host that really knows the country can save a lot of time and lead to great photo ops that otherwise could never have occurred.

This shot suits B&W very well, it turns out, and you've done a great job of it, all those sparkly bottles and light and details along that wall. Composition seems just right, and a fun day was had by all.
