juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted April 28, 2008 Hmmm...What did I do now...? I guess it's an abbystract...? I like the composition mucho...post op is great all the way around....wvmm Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted April 28, 2008 You pick the damndest stuff to comment upon. This is one that I would expect that you would pass on. Hell, you probably don't even know what it is since all you folks up there go swimming, fishin', peein", and who knows what all in that there big lake, and all. But I'm glad to get a word from you. So thank you. Are you all set for the summer shows. Are you going to leave the state in pursuit of that fame? I have a second version, and I'd like to know how you feel about it. Link to comment
juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted April 28, 2008 I would pee in either one... The one you attached is very good as well...less of an abstract to me because it's easier to see that there is not any water in it...and of course the sign saying that it is the deep end is cut off...maybe that could actualy make that more abbystract?...The colors and compositions are solid on both versions...! I do like your soft use of the Deep Watercolor filter on both versions...except the filter seemed to have missed a few leaves on the bottom of the pool... Keep up the good fun! wvvmm OH..it ook about 20 minutes to open...it was at 240dpi? did you know that? Earlier today I down loaded one of my images off my page and when I opened it in PS it was at 300 dpi...I had just posted it at 72 a few minutes before? any thoughts? Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted April 28, 2008 A skillful composition, Dave (and again, better than you give yourself credit for). I like both versions, maybe the second a little more because it's a bit bolder. Very well seen. Warm regards... Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted April 28, 2008 Wildman: thanks for your valued opinion. I do always give your opinion great weight. Joe: As always, I'm grateful to have you there and providing (sometimes much needed) support. Link to comment
jbm 0 Posted April 28, 2008 Great incongruity between the lines of the railing and the lines of the pool. Perfect saturation of the colors. I tend to sometimes oversaturate my images but this is better with the muted eggshell blue of the pool floor. Cheers, Jay Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted April 28, 2008 Thank you very much. I'm prone to oversaturating myself. But I'm seeking treatment. :) Link to comment
timkeller 0 Posted April 28, 2008 I, too, like both versions, with II being my favorite of the two. I like the presence of the Deep Water sign in this one. Both are very strong compositions that flirt with abstraction, which I always like. I find this a refreshing addition to your portfolio...and not just because it's a pool. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted April 29, 2008 Thanks. I was just playing around and thought there might be something worthwhile in this image, which as taken just didn't do much for me. So I started looking at pieces of it and came up with the two you have seen. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 29, 2008 I like the irony you see in so many places, the empty deep water...."Flirting with abstract"( Tim's) is a good definition to both of them. As usual nicely observed. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted April 29, 2008 Thanks. I'm pleased you found it. I have not had as much presence lately as normal, as I am having computer problems and pretty much have to work with a borrowed one here and there. I may get my computer back froom repair today. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted April 29, 2008 Always a pleasure to hear from you. Thanks for stopping by. Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted April 29, 2008 this is wonderful - i would love it even without the irony. my sympathies on your computer. i hope it comes home soon. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted April 29, 2008 Thanks so much. I'm sitting here with the wife's laptop (which I hate) trying to keep up with Pnet. and I just got a call from my PC repair guy saying it is ready to go. Yippeee! Besides fixing all the crap that was screwed up on it (I hope) it's got a brand spanking new 320 gig hard drive so I can really smoke not. Link to comment
dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted April 29, 2008 I like the diagonal lines, both on the pool floor and on the ladder handle. It's interesting that they go in different directions--creates sort of a tension in the shot. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted April 29, 2008 Just got my PC back from repair and fired up. Whoeee! Ain't nothing like a smooth running computer. Thanks for the look. Did you have an opinion as to which version you preferred? Link to comment
dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted April 29, 2008 I think I like the simplicity of this version better. Remind me never to swim in a pool with Juan. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted April 29, 2008 Oh come on! You better not try to tell me you never peed in the pool. Next you're going to tell me that your grandmother is--was-- Mother Teresa. Link to comment
tonmestrom 4 Posted April 29, 2008 "peed in the pool", now there's a song title if ever I saw one. Starting your own pool series David? Well why not, didn't David Hockney any harm. Actually your title is way deeper than that pool. Nice crop Link to comment
dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted April 29, 2008 I never claimed to be innocent of such an offense. Maybe Juan shouldn't swim in the same pool as me. Neither should nuns, Mother Teresa or otherwise. Link to comment
tonmestrom 4 Posted April 29, 2008 nuns only use consecrated water, Juan only dives in that Montana snow and one of your greatest democratic principles is Innocent until proven Guilty so nothing to worry about. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted April 30, 2008 I don't know much about nuns, and Dr. De Santa Anna dives for pearls with his camera. Snow or whatever. But that innocent thing is not true now. After enough waterboarding, sleep deprivation and isolation, all will tell you they are guilty. So we no longer need that silly little concept of innocent until proven guilty. It was kind of a pain in the a anyway. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted April 30, 2008 I've never seen a nun swimming in a pool. But if I did and you were in it with them, I'd definitely advise them to get out! LOL (Hey, Doug, just joking....) Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted April 30, 2008 I like the perspective and your concept of abstract,David. Link to comment
