pnital 36 Posted April 23, 2008 Two sides( between others) of Spain, and other countries as well.... The Holy and the Mundane... Thanks http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=7194907 Link to comment
kirk d 0 Posted April 23, 2008 Some worship both. Anyway, the holy one isn't displaying for me but I'm sure you've presented a good contradiction. Kirk Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 23, 2008 Rueda, Linda and Kirk. Kirk, yes some worship both... The holy was dedicated to Dennis but the contradiction is for all my vistors YOU INCLUDED !;-)) thanks Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted April 23, 2008 ... and yet others worship neither. You have done a fine job, with this pair of images, of representing two of the most timeless pursuits of mankind. I like the way the reflections play on the surface of the glass adding another dimension to the advertisement. Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted April 24, 2008 An interesting "take" on a semi-iconic post-war photographic concept. You've used the advertising image well here. Regards... Link to comment
adelah 0 Posted April 24, 2008 I like the idea:) can't stop smiling looking at their faces! Link to comment
davidorea 1 Posted April 24, 2008 Superb scene, dear Pnina. The poses, attitudes and atmosphere are unique. Excellent photograph (and lovely girl)! Congrats! Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted April 24, 2008 Well seen and done, Pnina. It's a photo mainly for men though;-) Link to comment
kirk d 0 Posted April 24, 2008 Let me see now, there are 5 studly young men in the picture and one woman and how is this a picture for men? Pnina, I know this is an ad for something, but the capture here indicates what I have heard about many European countries. That is, men are not shy about expressing in public/out-loud, how they feel or what they think about persons on the opposite sex. For you world travelers, is that a generalized myth or some fact? Kirk Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 24, 2008 All of you for your feedback. Kirk, I travel, but I don't live in Europe... so it may be a stereotype, or the truth... refering to Paula's comment, it maybe reality (she lives in Europe). But my aim as I wrote in the previous, photo, and Gordon's evaluation was exactly my thought uploading the two together. Gordon wrote:.... "You have done a fine job, with this pair of images, of REPRESENTING TWO OF THE MOST TIMELESS PURSUITS OF MANKIND ". Gord, funny how idetical thought we have ..... It is exactly two sides of looking at a woman. No one( women or nen) will look of the The holy "Virgin of Guadalupe" in the same way they will look at the woman in a mundane life. The attitude of the man in this ad, says it all. Both of the photos are women.... There is a lot to say, but I will better stop here..... Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted April 24, 2008 You have made a most appropriate comparison of the 2, Pnina, is lighthearted way. Nice idea. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 24, 2008 Thank you both. Cherlyn, as a woman you understood.. David, as I already know you, I'm not surprised, but what is about the "beyond"...( as wrote somebody that you know....)..;-))You know me too....LOL Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted April 24, 2008 Well Pnina, this might give a better "jolt" than coffee for some people. Funny that the word "desayuno" (breakfast) is on the left side. That is some way to start the day. Great and funny capture with the guys drinking coffee in the background. You presented a very poignant and interesting juxtaposition between this capture and the previous one of the virgin. The "madonna and whore" complex is a fascinating interpretation for certain human behaviors. Link to comment
marco_ruggiero 0 Posted April 24, 2008 This is really a beaut!.. Fantastic, you ave captured the spirit of all Latin Countries and Latin men. My congratulations. Link to comment
sky blue 0 Posted April 25, 2008 Nice presentation; although, sadly an image of people that don't know what they want. Perhaps they are waiting for her to choose... too late! ~Sky Link to comment
Donna Stavis 0 Posted April 25, 2008 Pnina, Another take on voyeurism--theirs, ours with that window, she is watching them. This reminds me (for some reason; I know it's the wrong country) of a scene from a Fellini movie. I think these dynamics could take place in any Mediterraen country, Israel as well. I love the Old World feel of this. Adan, "The 'madonna and whore' complex is a fascinating interpretation for certain human behaviors." --How does walking down the street turn her into a whore? ( I've heard that "syndrome" before), but she's just walking.... Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 25, 2008 Marco, you emphsise the " stigma"... ;-))..... Adan, I understand what you mean, the photo is ambiguous enough. Donna, I think that Adan thought about the two extrems of a phenomemon, we don't know who is she anyway, but the way she is looked at by the guys behind, is many times a social behaviour of men toward women, in many places on the glob not only the Mediteranean, or Europe..... Sky ;-))glad to see and read you . Thanks Darren and Dale. Link to comment
laurent-paul 1 Posted April 25, 2008 Looking at both photos for a couple of days. I still can't spot the difference. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 25, 2008 Laurent, if you can not spot the differences, what are the similarities, aside from both being women?...;-)) Link to comment
