michaellinder 16,611 Posted March 4, 2010 John: This photograph grabbed me. Wthout seeing the subject's face, it is obvious that he is feeling both relief and joy. And the dark tonality allows the viewer to fully embrace what the subject is feeling without being distracted by obvious signs of summer (bright sun, strong shadows, etc.). Excellent work! michael Link to comment
jgalyon 0 Posted March 5, 2010 thanks Alf! you'll have to visit Chattanooga some time and we'll take a wade in the fountain! John Link to comment
jgalyon 0 Posted March 5, 2010 Michael, I like the title...and the song! This series was shot on the side of the fountain opposite the setting sun. The density of the water made for some wonderful color and shadowing that added the dramatic effect. If I had realized at the time, just how well these shots would have turned out...I'd have shot a bit more. You make a good observation in pointing out the lack of all the other signs of summer that I believe would have diminished the effecteiveness of the picture. Thanks for taking the time to comment! Guest Guest Posted February 13, 2012 This photo appeared at the bottom of the grammys thread this morning. Very nice. The boy is beautifully framed as he stands in front of the white splash of water. The foreground drizzle is effective and feels urban to me. The toning is well done. There's a great sense of depth to this as well, and the motion really works. It's a sensitive portrayal.
