It's a shame that I was not really into photography when I visited Madrid. This is very well seen and a great way to be reminded of the architectureal richness of this city.

To all of you, for your feedback.

Linda, if you write in google "plaza mayor madrid" you will find a lot of history about this wonderful square, I could not find the painter's name though, I looked for it too. I will try to find out through my Spanish friends.

This building in the Plaza Mayor is known as "La Real Casa de Panaderia" (Royal Bakery). It was rebuilt after a fire in 1670 and the painters were Claudio Coello and Jose Jimenez Donoso.

The information is a bit challenging to find because it is contained under "Casa Panaderia" and in Spanish.

Laurent, I have some of them, I will upload another one, they are so beautiful.

Adan, Thanks, I know the history, I just could not find the name of the painters, so thanks for your help, all the history is well written in the Google.

Amal, you are right, it is a beautiful city!

The soft light makes the painting glow and stand out from the wall. Amazing that the paint has withstood more than 300 years outdoors.

Soft, beautiful, and welcoming. I like the way the light interacts with the golden tones especially. I read a lot of poetry from the MIddle Ages in Spain about the parties with wine, women, and poetry in the courtyards, and this brings to life that splendor in the history of Spain. Nice crop, giving an urban courtyard appearance.

Thanks both of you. The paintings are amazing, as is the huge Plaza Mayor, with its interesting history, construction , towers and the wall of painting. Very impressive past and present.
