Another great find. How does this Jesus guy do it??? No speeches in almost 2,000 years and he becomes Lord of Orosi. Hmmm...I suspect he's got more lobbyists working for him than even McCain, that would do it. :)

Or maybe it's the pharmaceutical companies pushing him. LOL And, he may be lord, but to my knowledge not one piece of property in the whole town is listed on the title as the owner. Neat trick.

Bizarre. And your color processing accentuates the weirdness. The empty parking lot is the final touch. If not, the pay phone is. (Makes me want to see if Jesus's phone number is posted there.) I take it this is your ironic happy easter wish. I like it.

It is, indeed, my Easter card to all Pnetters and the the rest of the world. And, yes, it is bizarre. I'm not fond of the current cultural trend to wear one's religion on one's sleeve. Merely proclaiming one's faith does not make one faithful, and these days we have all kinds of folks proclaiming their personal relationship with God and Jesus on their cars, their homes, their bodies and any other available surface. I'm also a fervent advocate of the separation of church and state, a principle that seems to be getting closer and closer to extinction. Now that's my Easter sermon. Peace to you all.

All aboard the Jesus train. This scene could spin so many stories. I agree that the empty parking lot speaks volumes. If this was in my neighborhood I would be hard pressed to refrain from writing " for a good time call Jesus " on the wall beside that phone. I like the low angle and amount of parking lot you have in the foreground.

Thanks immensely. Got an in-law coming to stay for the weekend, and I'm faced with house cleaning, so you gave me a good laugh to sustain me in my misery. I'm grateful.

Only the lord of OROSI?,... ;-)) thats why the parking lot is empty, other belivers are angry that he was claimed only for Orosy....;-))

You have a special skills David to find the most bizarre religious scenes.... ( the train, the colors, the writing,no people, emptiness.....)

Queen Elisabeth II no doubt had much to do with the Lordship title. Such are politics.

The 2000 census indicates that the population of Orosi is 7,318. Sounds like a good place for boomers. Great shot David!

Thanks. Actually this is a very poor primarily Hispanic town. It has been quite interesting the way much of the Mexican population appears to be gravitating to the fundamentalist and evangelical religious groups. It probably causes great consternation to the Catholic church.

I love the train and the palm trees, I feel like I've been transported to the tropics. You continue to amaze and entertain me with your profound religious imagery. I'll bet the parking lot's not empty on Sundays. Nice editing work David, I like the bold colors and almost surreal look to the asphalt....textural I think would be a better word.

Actually, that parking lot probably is empty on Sunday morning, because I think this is a bank building, and not a church. Ha ha. I'm real fond of the parking lot texture too, and wish I had lowered the camera just a teenie bit to have gotten a little more asphalt and a tad less sky. Oh well, regrets are cheap. Take care my friend. I still want badly to go see you again. I don't know anybody else as cool as you.

Keep planning your trip, I'll always be glad to welcome you and Peggy to the "outback". I'm a busy Buckaroo these days.

WOW... the artist is fantastic. love the tones on the wall, and sky.

I would like to see a tighter crop.. but there is something about the distance that makes it feel very lonley.... and the fact there are no cars in the park.

most excellent

Somehow it seems not very surprising that you would like this weird world I see. Your's is pretty twisted too. Or perhaps you didn't know that??? LOL

I like the "vacantness" (dare I say "vacuousness") of it. Great perspective and composition. The super saturation seems to go along with the over-the-top nature of the photo! It's religion, American style. Now if only all those American religious folk could find just a hint of something actually Godlike somewhere, we could truly aspire to greatness. Alas, this is what we get instead . . . colorfully-manufactured emptiness. Really nice capture and effective presentation.

Thanks. Yes, we are rapidly becoming (have become) a nation of form over substance. Proclaim your personal relationship with the Lord, and, all of a sudden, you are saved. No work. No real suffering or effort. Presto! It's that easy. And while we're at it, let's make a big show of it.

Wonderful David...I think your composition & treatment reinforce the theatrical nature of the image and message and that's what I enjoy most...are we looking at a poster or wall paint within an image or the whole image is a poster...is the reality embeded in the image or the image embeded in reality....together with the religious message it creates a questioning image....
