onlocation 0 Posted February 24, 2008 Thank you for your comments on my pic.I like the colour and composition of this image but i think the 'men only sign'is absorbed by a lot of the surrounding signs. I understand how it raises curiosity though. For me 'I love the light' around the hydrant, pavement and door and the hydrant being something solid, still, reliable in the midst of a fast moving, transient, commercial world. (I would have cropped it to a different main subject)and probally called it 'come on baby light my fire'but either way i think it works well. I can see from your work how you have explored many of the different areas that I too have explored during my own photographic journey..composition, perspective, colour etc and now some even the more abstract. So,I can relate to your awarness and the conscious effort you have made to capture the elements you see.My regards. Link to comment

bosshogg 4 Posted February 24, 2008 No disrespect intended here, but I think Andrew is on the wrong path. The centerpiece for better or worse was the "Men Only" sign. To me the sign is thematic. It's about isolation, about segregation, about choices and options. And it epitomizes the urban environment. Andrew's vision would take into account the last of those descriptions, but would take away much more than it would add IMHO. It's a good street scene Doug. Link to comment
dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted February 24, 2008 Thanks, David. I too think the sign is central to the photo for the very reasons you stated. I think Andrew's idea is quite good, but for a different photo (or at least a different posting with a very different crop) with a different focus than this one. Link to comment
