I have been wanting to do some shooting of some of the wonderful architecture that you can find in Buffalo ... but the weather hasn't been conducive. (Normally, we have completely gray overcast from November through March ... and if it's not overcast, the snow is melty and muddy....) But last night we had about a foot of snow, and then the skies cleared for about two or three hours. So I got myself downtown (with appropriate footwear this time) to shoot Buffalo's art museum. The Albright-Knox is a gorgeous building! I hope that I have done it justice with some of my images. Does it bother you that I included the sun in the top corner? I did it on purpose. Let me know what you think.

The right half of the picture is pretty dark compared to the left. But I do like the un-touched snow.

I love that you got down low for the image and I'm imagining that you got your knees wet in the process. I don't mind the sun being in the image except that it is probably the cause of the fade to gray on the right side.

Very pretty sight Lou Ann. I just love your clouds and the virgin snow...

:-) great! The air is so clean by the look of this.

Thanks everyone. No, Shawn, my knees were millimeters above the snow ... I did NOT want to get wet. But it was an uphill slope, so that worked in my favor.

About the left to right, light to dark fade ... I am wondering if I can use my newly developing masking skills with the gradient tool to create a mask to brighten the image..... hmmmmmm..... I'll play with it. Check back (it won't be in the next few days, though) and I'll let you know if I come up with anything.

Really great photo. I like the foreground detail with the rocks and the fact you also encompassed a lot of sky in the shot too. Well done.

Perfect use of foreground interest to lead the eye into an image. The snow covered rocks look like pieces of Artwork too. And I love how the clouds "roll" into the building, adds a nice energy and flow to the composition.

Great architecture, wonderful POV and very interesting lighting. The bright sun on the left side and grey tones on the right create interest in my book, not distraction. Great job! Did hot chocolate follow?

Cheers ~

I really like the foreground leading up to the building. The sky is gorgeous too. Sure don't get photos like this one in Florida. No great architecture in my area.
