This is a home run for sure. I love it, and it is done in such a colorful and pleasing manner, even though the concept is one that would not presage the use of "pleasing." Crystal clear in focus and in meaning. Great work Doug. Really

You should put it up for critique forum 7/7 as far as I'm concerned.

A photo Sam Starkey upload some time ago inspired me to do this. His was a black and white of a Wal-Mart parking lot. It said to me that this is what you now see in much of rural America.

The scene here is the line between the past and the future in my little part of the world.

The farm economy has died. Farm land is now used for subdivisions and commercial development. Local merchants must scramble to find a niche not served by the chains. Roots have been severed, as retirees move in because of low taxes and the young move out because of limited opportunities.

Wal-Mart cannot be responsible for damages. The local manager was recently voted the "Jefferson Countian of the Year". The future has been embraced

Your picture says all that and more. How tempting it would have been to engage in a bit of hyperbole by blacking out "caused by carts." If you haven't already, put it on the critique forum so it gets some more exposure.

And another thing that just dawned on me (yes, I am a bit slow) is how the blue of the sign is cleaner and brighter than the sky itself. If that ain't an omen...

the sign would be more accurate if it stated, "Walmart WILL NOT be responsible for damages"...and of course, we're not talking shopping carts.

a homerun in my ballpark as well... congrats from a fellow Tennessean.!

Priceless! (pun intended) A most difficult image to capture; if, like many of us, you do not frequent Wally World... Mike

Although my comment above is more editorial than photo comment, I offer that I admire the eye that can pick this out while going about your daily life.... good find... Mike
