This would be very interesting to see how it was originally, bet it looks awesome also as it was. Very unique "pressing" mood. These works are actually quite hypnotic when viewed in long periods.

It feels gothic to me, dramatic and austere.

It has a magical or mystical sense about it, as I feel as though figures are embedded in the curves of the red curtain. That is my favorite aspect of it. I see the entire right side of the photo as another figure, with head up top in profile (perhaps surrounded by a hood of sorts), arm coming down diagonally toward the center. The red is, of course, a strong and evocative color. You've captured the swirls of the beuaitfully highlighted curtain like a painter. There's life and energy and wonder in the material.

I find the image much more sanguinary than sanguine.

The central figure is, of course, the point, and is not working for me as is. The first thing that hits me is that it's a post processing creation. I don't mind a lot of post processing per se, but I am generally not a fan of this type of put-together image, especially if it's not seemless. So I need to admit my bias, which says nothing about your work, of course. However, for this type of work, I think your technique could be honed a bit. Where the head is meeting the curtain just glares at me as false. It doesn't feel like you've committed to what you want that to feel like. What is his connection (physically/visually) to the curtain? Is he born of it? protected by it? enveloped? lost in it? I'm not clear and I don't think the image is.

I'm also not getting a strong read on his clothing. Seems arbitrary. More black would say something. Nude would say something. White would say something. This garb feels a little arbitrary.

I think it feels personal and meaninful and I admire that a lot. I just think it needs more intentionality and thought.

I like the composition, color scheme, and feel. The only suggestion I might make is to "pop" the figure a bit, brightening him a bit just to pull him out of the background. As is (and this may be a problem with my own monitor), I have to strain a little to distinguish figure from background. Perhaps this was what you wanted, and if so, well done. Another interesting creation, Joseph.

Michael Alina Richard Nima-Thank you very much for the encouragement.

Darren: Hitman. I totally see that too! Course, I changed it. ha!

Tero: The original is nothing like this. Ha! I will post it for comparison.

Fred: I knew you wouldn't like the post production but I also knew you would give me insight on the mood. I really appreciate your help. I LOVE your idea about figures in the flowing curtain and went with that. Darren also mentioned the head looked odd so I tried to burn it in . Works for me. The hard line is an actual shadow caused by the cloth. I also loved your idea of sanguinary, so I changed the title Thank God for online dictionaries.

Jeff: Thanks for the ideas. I tried some dodging on the figure to bring him out. I think it works. My monitor isn't professional but I do have a Spyder2 express calibrator. $60.00 and well worth it. I believe my screen may be lighter than actual results but I've seen my work on other computers and it seems to be fairly accurate. Oh ya, I edited the pic since it isn't ratable. I hope the critique police don't bust me.

Very cool composition. I love how you cropped it from the original and made it almost like an abstract on its own. Could be a great album - or back cover. Great work, best regadrs.
